Not new...just a new location and name, for a previous burger place called "Tajo Burger" that was down the road west about a km. in La Canacinta.
IMO, they have "average" hamburguesas, not good, not bad...but they couldn't figure out how to get the fries out with the sandwich.
They did grill on an open fire before...don't remember if it was gas or wood.
Just what we needed, another restaurant who can't make good hamburgers. Ajijic doesn't need more restaurants.

The principals were the same folks who have the Blue Bell ice cream store on the Carretera, lakeside, between Aquiles Serdan and Tempisque and the brother-in-law who has a the Tajo Burger place on Lopez Mateos en frente the newer Costco near Santa Anita. Probably a dispute over the quality and association of the name.
A really good, fairly new, burger place is Camden Road in Providencia...Guadalajara.

How large is the burger you put out? It would be interesting to know.
Don't worry, I'll never eat at your restaurant again. Anyone who voilates the law by allowing smoking deserves to get caught. Remember a 20,000 pesos fine. Gotta sell lots of burgers to make up for it.
If you will remember, I gave your restaurant an excellent review way back when.
Wrong about violating the law. The smoking police have already been there & the smoking section is indoors before you get to the patio area & if there's a non-smoker sitting in the inside section all they have to do is close the door on the west side of the patio area near the kitchen & they are perfectly within the law. In other words, the non-smokers don't have to walk THROUGH a smoky patio to get to the nonsmoking section.

John,
we get a little over 6 burgers from 1 kilo of beef. You did give us a nice review then, with another post, you said our burger was terrible and that our corned beef was way over priced. By the way, I think you violated the way violated is spelled! Rick

Hahahaha, I wasn't the only one who noticed the violation. So was that voila?
Corned beef? Do tell all please. Love the stuff.

EARLY BIRD: Corned beef sammiches: Good, and plentiful. Not quite up to the Jewish deli standards in New York or L.A.............but fine eating, anyway.
And........you can smoke there.
Enjoy!

In case you haven't figured it out yet, no one wants to go to a restaurant and eat smoke with their food as well as get cancer from second hand snoke. ALL restaurants should be smoke free. If the smoker cannot avoid smoking before, during or after eating they shouldn't go to a restaurant. Ever hear of respect for others and willpower.

Re: New Burger Restaurant - LAKE BURGER
John, you did it again....I've never heard of anyone dying from second hand snoke??? In our restaurant, the non smoking section is completely isolated from the smoking, You don't walk through the somking area to reach the other. This was approved by the license people in Chapala. I was concerned because of the shade screen over our patio. They said I have to have a sign designating the "non-smoking" area and, if people are eating in the East wing, we must have the access door closed. We have complied with both!
In reply to the other post, we make our own corned beef and serve it in several ways. Of course a great Reuben, our version of Corned Beef Hash and our latest, Corned Beef Benedict which has been selling like gangbusters.

Re: New Burger Restaurant - LAKE BURGER
justme - I was referring to restaurants in general even with outdoor seating where the wind can blow smoke into the restaurant. When we ate there, I had no idea that you had a non smoking section. When I was there, our good friends June and Al, whom you know, were there with their 2 dogs near the back.

Re: New Burger Restaurant - LAKE BURGER
I happen to agree that restaurants with "non-smoking" sections generally have the smoke wafting all over the place no matter what their efforts are.
As a former smoker who quit years ago because of health problems scary enough to overcome the addiction......I'm very aware of how that works, but I go to some of them anyway if the food is good enough.
Really considerate smokers do their puffing outdoors. Most people can handle the lack of a ciggie for the time it takes to have a meal, but some can't and some just DON'T CARE.
In any case, I thought we were talking about the new burger joint...not the Early Bird with the "wanted" poster. LOL.

Hey, Rick, nothing personal, but there are hundreds of reports indicating second-hand smoke is even more dangerous than smoking.

John you frikken dimwit. There is not one verifiable study that has ever been done which shows a connection, however remote, with second hand smoke and cancer. NONE!!! I might add that the studies linking cancer to smoking are also somewhat suspect. You might have a one or two percentage point higher chance of contracting cancer than a non smoker.
DO NOT CONTRADICT ME HERE OR I WILL LAY IT ALL OUT ON THIS FORUM IN VIVID BLACK AND WHITE!!!!!

Sorry dude, bought and paid for scientists who sold their souls to the anti-smoking lobby. Not kidding here. I have the real studies at hand. BTW, splenda is one whole helluva lot worse for you than smoking.
Look here, I'm older than dirt and still have great oxygen uptake, 95-96. The big guy is 74, ditto. My great grandfather smoked 3 packs a day and died at 96 after winning a game of cards. The only time the big guy got sick was when he quit smoking, an oversight easily rectified.

O.K. you win, there are some other diseases which smoke, even second hand smoke could be very bad for.
I am, BTW a very considerate smoker at all times.

Re: New Burger Restaurant - LAKE BURGER
Since I see you as a civilized person.......I'm not surprised that you're a considerate smoker.
And, if memory serves, you did already lay it out before....long time ago, and even included studies showing smoking is GOOD FOR YOU. I won't argue the point except to say that if I hadn't quit when I did, I'd either be dead or trailing an oxygen tank around. I know this, for certain: my health improved dramatically after I quit. That's good enough for me. YMMV. Obviously, it does.
However, I will concede that different people react differently to different substances, which is why we have news stories about people who lived to be 105 saying they owe it to plenty of Jim Beam and three packs of cigs a day.

Re: New Burger Restaurant - LAKE BURGER
What ticks me off is I quit smoking 7 or 8 years ago after being a chain smoker & noticed NO improvement or any benefits I was promised like more energy, food tasting better but I did put on weight. Life just isn't always fair. I don't know if I'll live longer or if it will just seem like it.

Good one!!!
One of my relatives was a serious drinker and his wife was always telling him it would kill him. She keeled over of a heart attack and one day.....so did he, but that was 15 years later. Ya never know.

An opinion from someone who actually ate at Burger Lake
I'm really new at posting my opinions, but when I tried to find a phone # for Burger Lake, I found this website. I read through the main post, and followed all the side-tracking that has taken it complelety off topic. I don't know how a post about a new restaurant got over to arguing about what store has the "best" meat. So, I'd like to add an opinion on the food and atmosphere at Burger Lake. I ordered the sirloin burger, my husband ordered the sirloin cheeseburger. Fries come with the sandwiches, hot and freshly cooked. The meat was very lean, almost flavorless and had that look and texture of pre-formed, frozen patties. The fries were the krinkle cut from the freezer and there is a add-your-own-condiment bar. I like mayo on my burger, but decided against it, as it was in a squeeze bottle sitting out in the mid-day temps, no thanks. We each had two beers and, with tip, we left 200 pesos. The service was nothing but bringing the food, the beer and the check.

It´s a damn shame that the management of Burger Lake (the same thing as the now closed Tajo Burger out on the carretera west of Ajijic), doesn´t get it. Those dreadful pre-formed and tasteless, mushy industrial grade hamburger patties destroy an otherwise good idea. They cook the burgers over charcoal and that´s a fine idea here in fryburgerland where fried greaseburgers are the order of the day but why charbroil crap and call it a hamburger? Just buy some decent ground beef and form that beef into patties and BBQ the damn things to order and you will succeed. What is so complicated abour that?
Now, the newly opened ILove My SugarDaddy BBQ in the Montaña Plaza has the idea on charbroiling cheeseburgers even though their BBQ ribs and pork sammiches with the insipidly and cloyingly sweet BBQ sauce leave something to be desired and is nothing remotely close to the South Carolina BBQ sauce it pretends to be. Go to MySugarDaddy´s and get that great charburger but Dawg cannot, at this time, recommend their BBQ. Maybe later.

Wanna make a good burger, make it at home!!! I wouldn't waste my money ordering a burger at a restaurant here, unless it was Outback at Galerias in GDL.
