Veterinarian Certificate - Letter Empty Veterinarian Certificate - Letter

Post by brercottage385 Sat Sep 08, 2012 5:02 pm

Does anyone have a copy of the necessary Veterinarian Certificate – Letter needed for my two small dogs who will be driving down with me to Lakeside soon. Many have told me that they have doine this many times and never been asked for any paperwork. I simply do not want to chance luck!

Does anyone have such certificates or letters in both English and Spanish. If so would you be willing to share a copy with me so I can provide the same to my vet (who does not know anything about this but is willing to help me) who will put these on her letterhead.

Anyone with any other thoughts, ideas, comments which might be helpful in making this long trip from California to Lakeside more comfortable for the pups (8 and 5 years old) - I wuld love to hear from you.

Please feel free to PM me.

Veterinarian Certificate - Letter Empty Re: Veterinarian Certificate - Letter

Hi juanrey, hopefully you're feeling generous today.
I too would like a copy of the Veterinarian Certificate.
Last year we didn’t have much luck landing in Puerto Vallarta with the paperwork our vet provided.
The “official” at the airport looked at the document for 10 minutes before he proclaimed it insufficient.
He claimed our vet’s licence number was missing, when I pointed out that if there was a number he couldn’t verify it as he didn’t have internet access.
He said that was true, but he would have known the number was legitimate by looking at it.

There is no tyrant like a petty Mexican official. Very Happy

Thanks

Crossing by land is usually very easy, by air is often a bitch.

This is the best website that I know of for this kind of information. I'm linking to "What do I need to bring with my pet" page....but there's other information on the site if you poke around:

Veterinarian Certificate - Letter Empty Re: Veterinarian Certificate - Letter

Thanks John for the copy - and to everyone else who helped. One FINAL attempt though:

Does any one have an english (and tranlated into Spanish) letter from a VET indicating the the pet is:
1. The pet of Name of Person
2. Free from all bugs
3. Had Rabies shots

This seems to be a necessary letter to accompany the official certificate.

Thanks in advance.

Well, why didn't you just ask for both at the same time?
I'll get back to you, but we probably have the copy we came down here with.

Oh by the way, anyone who has more than 2 pets...
Well, learn from my error that cost me 4 hrs at the airport with 3 pets.
We had them all listed on the one form, it actually saved us money in Texas that way.
But, when we got to the airport customs said that I would have to bequeath (seriously their word) one of them to my wife. So, we spent 4 hrs coming up with an English and Spanish version of a letter, by which I give one of the 3 cats to my wife. And then they let us through. It WAS NOT an attempt at mordida as I would have gladly paid. But, it was their interpretation of the rule and this is how they dealt with it.
So for those with more than 2. Each person can have 2, but you might want to have no more than 2 pets on a letter and vet form.
