Wood Dowels

I live in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

Can anyone suggst the closest lumber yard/hardware store where I can buy a short length od 3/4 inch wood dowel?

There's a maderieria in Riberas.

The maderieria is unfortunately long closed. I asked the same question some time ago, and apart from the maderieria across from Soriana, no other place turned up. Someone mentioned checking with Have Hammers Will Travel by the 7-11 in Riberas, but they do contract work and finished-product sales.

There is a maderieria in west Ajijic on the lateral across from the Casa de Waffle. It's a bit tricky to get to but after you spot it going west take the first opportunity to turn left and head east on the lateral.

I'm thinking that you might find them at any local carpinteria around town.

I needed a slightly longer dowel - 1/4 inch. for a paper towel holder

In the end I simply placed three washers on the end and held them on with a screw. Truely a Mexican solution!
