Wood Pellet Smoker
I'm looking at a great deal on a wood pellet smoker at costco.com but can't seem to find a supplier of pellets here locally.
Does anyone know of an online or local (Lakeside or Guadalajara) source for pellets??? Just a few kilos until I can bring bags down from NOB.
TIA for your usual good advice.

Thanks Mike. Here's what I've tried....
amazon.com shipping charges are of course astronomical.
amazon.com.nx doesn't list any
ditto for mercado libre.
same for home depot - Mexico. homedepot.com won't ship.

Amazon MX has some, but not cheap. US$100 for 20 lbs, inc shipping. But, better yet, eschew pellets and go for the real stuff. I got an Akorn jr and am loving it.

Angus on TOB pointed out the error of my ways and showed me a 12 kilo bag that I had missed somehow on mercado libre.
Smoker and pellets are on their way. My wife thinks this confirms my senility.

Next step in the adventure. (Isn't it amazing what trivial things amuse us geriatrics?}
I got the smoker and assembled it Friday afternoon. No missing parts, no parts left over and no swearing. My wife gave me an attaboy.
I smoked stuffed pork chops on Saturday and I'm doing a pork butt today. So far so good.
I'm ready for the big one next - brisket!
Before I head to the butcher that I normally use; the one at the Chapala market, are there any recommendations for;
a) another butcher?
b) what to ask for in the cut. I think I should ask for the equivalent of a "packer cut"?
c) any other advice for a novice?
TIA

For brisket I would check with tonys.

Or check with Rick at the plaza t-shirt shop as he used to make the corned beef briskets.

I think Amador at the SmokeHouse in West Ajijic, orders his through Costco in GDL, but Rick should know a good source.
Having never purchases in a butcher shop, I´m not a total expert, but if I did, I would ask for "pecho de res".

I have purchased brisket at the downtown Costco. You have to ask the butcher there it is not always in the meat counter.
Good luck

Re: Wood Pellet Smoker
I got a very nice brisket for smoking from Tony's. He needs two or three days to order.
