Slippery When Wet - Centro Laguna

So within the last few months, Centro Laguna (the mall with Subway, movie theatre, casino and Wings Army in it) painted their cement/stone walkways. The paint is really shiny and pretty, but when it rains, it is very, very slippery. I went to Subway on Monday and practically had to hug the building to get there. My shoes have grip on every other surface, but not that painted surface.

Please be careful out there in this rainy season! It reminded me of walking on icy sidewalks NOB, but without the cold.

They'll never learn. Two years ago a windstorm blew down all their pretty "sails", and they had to build makeshift and ugly wooden leantos over the fronts of the fast-food joints. They had built the stone and tile areas without considering runoff, and therefore helped to provide swimming pools all over the mall. Now there has been another windstorm to take down all the sails again, and the paint job makes the walking worse than ever. For a place that gets rain five months of the year, one would think there would be some thought and planning, or even learning from mistakes.

Now I’m just guessing here but perhaps if they put some kind of wind flaps to release the wind pressure that should resolve this issue with the sails?

That would require critical thinking.

IMHO, when folks are accustomed to doing something in a certain way, they will often move Heaven and Hell in order NOT to change that... even to the extent of repeating their original error.

I daresay you will have more pleasure from that than the builders of the slippery floor fiasco got from their attempt at construction. L
