The old Lakesidecrime website was discontinued and now the address is: http://www.lakesidecrimetracker.com/

They have a crime survey which is important to answer - it's important to know how you feel about crime. What is the most serious, etc. Give it a look!

Very interesting. Take the survey. I did, then check the results.

It must be new - only 15 people have taken the survey.

It,s up 27 now and I was the 660th visitor.

I hope our posts will motivate more folks not only visiting but taking the survey.

Personally, I think the design of the website sucks. There is too much going on. It's messy.

I hope people will use it, and more, I hope they will be able to figure out HOW to use it.

I agree, it's too busy.

I wanted to read the latest reports and couldn't find them! Finally, all the way down at the bottom is another tool bar with the filed reports. I'd prefer if it were just basic and clean - like the last site.

Yes I agree - the prior website was much easier to see the important info - but at least we have a crime website!

47 surveys now. Love the new webbsite, find it much easier to navigate and get info. Just grateful that we have a new place to report and read about crimes. For those of you that are critical of it, would you prefer that we return to no webbsite, when we all went into panic mode for a week or so thinking we had no place to go? I, for one, am grateful that somebody took up the slack and a major resource to all of us was not lost forever. If you are going to criticize the new webbsite, please make it constructive, with suggestions for improvements, not just negative comments and ask yourselves if you would rather have nothing. Chico.

Okay, I said I think it is messy. It just isn't organized well. The scrolling sidebar is distracting. Good webpages, you should not have to scroll for information. At least not on the front/home page. The front/home page should be just the essentials with links that are a little more defined.

With a website for reading and reporting crime, it is not necessary to have too many whistles and bells. Simple is better.

I just did some looking at the new website and I think the information there is awsome. There is a page with emergency contact info including Jocotopec. Ok, you want constructive criticism? I think the crime reports should be at the top on the tool bar next to where to report new crimes. After all, wouldn't the 2 most important tabs be crimes already reported and where to report new crimes?

Would I rather there was NO crime reporting website - of course not!

I'm also distracted by the thingy on the right side.

Not Jeannette. She posted on TOB that she could not work out an agreement with the previous owner of the site and had backed off. I think the new webmaster wishes to remain anonymous. I know that I would, given the current climate here. chico

You can fill it out as many times as you want. Results are meaningless under those circumstances.
Should have been designed better.

There's a registration name on the domain using "whois". Don't know if they bothered to use a fake name

There is a "contact us" button on the site. Why not provide all feedback directly to the owner?

And Binky hits the nail on the head, once again. I also felt that some of the choices were in the wrong order as to point value. chico
