MC, I disagree. If you have any ideas on how to moderate and improve this board I would like to hear them. Thanks

You know folks maybe just maybe you expect Libertarians to be more perfect
than demos or repubs. Most of the Libertarians I know are normal people and
have there moments just like all of us. We do the best we can and get pissed
off like most people. We just think government is not the best solution for
everything and I think time has given our views a certain amount of credibility.
Now as far as the person saying why is there not a libertarian country? Don't
you think the various power groups would stop it as it would mean an end to
things the way they think they should be. Demos and repubs are not that
different. Libertarians are fundamentally different in philosophy. If Ron Paul
was a viable canadate he would be killed. He would upset too many people.
Easy to call him a nutter but basically he is the only kinda honest politico in
the US.

No Slainte I haven't met the man and that is what was so weird about him following me around on message boards and busting my chops. I really don't know what his problem is/was and frankly am mystified by his behavior towards me.

I'm perfectly happy to kiss and make up but frankly, at this point I feel an apology is warranted. In turn, I'll be happy to apologize for suggesting I would pound his butt on sight. Beer

I suspect most of the people here who really get ugly on this board are not really bad folks but they seem oblivious to the image they project when they start with the name-calling and cussing. I have to say that I was shocked at what an amiable guy John is in person when I met him at the party.

Enough said. Chris, one man's "ignorant" or "racist" is usually highly subjective. Frankly, I think the race business has been beaten to death. Punch a hole in us and we all bleed the same color.

Libertarianism is the antithesis of rule by the elite, oligarchies masquerading as democracies. Perhaps that is your answer as to why there are no libertarian countries. There really is no such thing as a singular libertarian philosophy either. It has many degrees and it also has its extreme end like all the rest.

I'm the one who keeps asking for an example of a working libertarian country.
Although I have little use for politicians of any stripe, Ron Paul sounded like the best of the current group, but that didn't fly for lack of support.

I do know a bit about people in general.............and because of that, I put Libertarianism in the same category as the various forms of Utopianism: a marvelous idea in theory, but one without a working example on any large scale. We've seen everything else tried, and watched how that went.

Most forms of government can work, within limits, but usually the devil is in the details. Bad kings, corrupt commisars, self-serving socialists, democrats and republicans on the take: you name it. Right now the freeways are filled with the pictures of smiling Mexican candidates and to tell ya the truth.......I'd hesitate to buy a used car from any of them.

To be honest when I read that you were a retired realtor that sent up a red flag for me,I spent 30 years in the high end residential construction business, west LA mainly, and had to deal with many realtors and their agents,an unsavoury lot to say the least,6 percenters, only interested in their commisions.

There's always a danger in automatically assuming that everyone in a given line of work is unsavory. But I certainly know the type you are referring to.

I would agree although we found the bigger problem to be that they just didn't know what they were doing half the time. I'm an engineer by training and worked at it for 20 years before turning a RE hobby into a profession. My wife has a background in social work (now THAT was useful for RE) and we were pretty hard-nosed about honesty and integrity. And we took the time to learn the business inside and out. It was really easy to do so, the local RE Board provided superb training if one was willing to take the time and do the work to get it.

What always amused me is that we did much better than the "slickos" precisely because we were really focused on service and honesty. As usual, those are the best policies. We're both very proud of our RE work and we still are friends with some of our previous customers two decades later.

They used to say that RE is one the the best paying hard jobs you can get and one of the worse paying easy jobs. I agree.

Really? You're an expert on so many things (engineering, real estate, currency prognostications, politics, world affairs, CFE, libertarianism, liberals, conservatives, media bias, economics, Mexico, free form gymnastics, race relations, bird migration patterns, the nanny state, Obama's birth certificate, etc)......hell, you seem to have solutions for every ill that besets mankind, and you're mystified by his behavior towards you.

C'mon MC, put your God given talents to work. I know you're up for the challenge.

As a moderator on this board I take exception.

TOB's board management is what they have wrong. Our membership ranks are filled with many who have been banned for the most insignificant of reasons, much less than 'extreme nastiness and personal comments.'

So do you believe we should have the same policy? I do hope you will address this invitation to actually provide something of substance here. (sound familiar?)

No, I think you should do pretty much what you are doing. As I've pointed out ad nauseum, I am not a moderator and this is not my board. I haven't advocated anywhere banning or editing for less than extreme nastiness and personal comments. That part of what they do there I agree with.

You're chasing a red herring here, taking exception to something I didn't suggest or post. I expressed agreement with ONE ASPECT of their policy, the banning of posters who chronically engage in extreme nastiness and personal attack. I expressed no support for banning people for trivial reasons, which is definitely a problem there.

As you probably know, one of the moderators there is the heart of the problem, unfortunately he is the head guy.

You have a few people here who post little but personal attack. There's a couple of good examples right here on this page.

These are the types I would not tolerate as a moderator and they have been booted from TOB for very good reason IMO.

Please note that "IMO" means In My Opinion.

Is there any mystery to MC's antics on this forum? Typical pattern is to show up for a few days or even a week, stir the various pots and then disappear because too many people disagree with his point of view and he can blame it on their tone.
