Left Vista del Lago around 1 today....several military vehicles, a dozen Military, were stopping vehicles both directions...to Mezcala, and returning to Chapala. They pulled all vehicles over, searching Mexican plated, waving foreign plated, including ours thru.....probably the beginning of rolling check points around LaKeside.....This was near San Nicholas.

Thanks, that is good to know. (or is it??)
We are planning on driving to Manzanillo next week for a few days - using toll roads of course. Anyone think we this might not be the time for a road trip? I would love your thoughts.
Thanks

I doubt it will be a problem. If you get stopped, it won't take more than 5 minutes.

Whenever I have driven to the US border or back Lakeside I have seen army checkpoints, convoys etc. It always makes me feel safer. I refuse to live in fear also. Use caution and live life. I refuse to let them win over me personally.

Just drove last week from Ajijic to Seattle no problems. Army,Navy and Federal
police were all around. Everyone acting polite and no problems. Waved through
most stops. Still stopped for meat and fruit stop at state borders. Nothing out
of the norm as we do this a few times a year. Anyhoo.
