Wow! This from a friend. . .
. . .apparently nazi.com is struggling with containing crime reports. Here is the post:
The forum will be removed this afternoon.
The intention was to allow local crime to be in it's own area with valid reports and not rumors. Unfortunately too many thought they would turn this into an area to discuss all crimes in Mexico and to leave all discussions open no matter how off topic they got and ignore the fact that updated news came along.
The decision has been reached that no crime whatsoever will be allowed on any of the forums.
If some would like to open a Facebook page for Crime in Mexico we will refer people to that Facebook Page.
As of now there will no longer be any reporting of crime.
Fasten your seat-belt Bob! I predict this nice board will become the go-to place for info and news. Good!!!

You're surprised? Wonder what susan/manny has to say after all her blather over there about this board... I had to SIT on my hands to stop myself from posting rebuttal.
People seem to be totally unaware of the number of posts that simply disappear without explanation over there. Kind a freaked me out for a while 'cuz I thought I was hallucinating posts.
They be tough and lean...still a good board for the basics.

Or just more rumours, conjecture and misinformation, like TOB. I guess Francisca didn't like Moderating that stuff. Too much for her.

Just looked and there have been 14 new members enrolled since last Friday! I would say the word has been spreading.

Yeah we have received about 60 new members since mid March. Hopefully they will contribute to the discussions. I do still see comments on TOB like "I don't know any other forums" so go figure. Maybe the BS blog will even get a few too.
Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
I posted on their "area crime" forum around 11am today, the thread was, why all the locked posts?I suggested that maybe the realtors who ran the forum were concerned about the bad PR having a negative effect on their income.ooops.

Quoting John: "Or just more rumours, conjecture and misinformation, like TOB"
John: The standard for posting is as much directed by the existing members as the mods. When one takes a hard look at this forum, a very high percentage of what may start out as a rumor ends up being confirmed one way or another by an accurate source. I would speculate that this may become more difficult if additional clamps are placed upon media sources. Social media sites must be viewed with a critical eye as false info can be posted if for no other reason to spread fear.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
Well their primary purpose in running that forum is as a tangential promotional effort to stimulate real estate sales since they are a Coldwell Banker franchise after all. Dawg theorizes that they came up with the crime sub-section in order to mitigate the sensational nature of crime reporting over community forums during these trying times through subtle moderation but found very quickly that they had opened a Pandora´s Box for a firm dependent on sales of real estate as its primary source of revenue. I presume they also decided after opening that box that the crime forum, because of its sensational nature, could easily get out of hand and overwhelm the less controversial forum sections to the detriment of their primary commercial goals. In that sense, this was a rational decision and the sooner they recognized the error the better for them in achieving their commercial goals.
Due to the specialized nature of the Coldwell Banker forum product, I can´t say that I blame them for doing the "feets don´t fail me now" routine. They made a mistake and turned on a dime before things got even worse for them. Whoever over there was entirely too clever in recommnding that Chapala.com take on this crime reporting project must be wiser now.
This forum which, Dawg presumes, has no hidden agenda, is a better place as an informal community electronic bulletin board regarding criminal activities at Lakeside than that other forum and can perform a valuable community service if posters to that bulletin board are allowed some leeway within reason.
Businesses and individuals trying to sell real estate during these trying times will inevitably try to play down the unprecedented crime wave from which we are all suffering at present. As for Dawg; if things get any rougher, Chiapas beckens. Dawg has no dawg in this hunt.
I do think that those reporting crimes at Lakeside should stick only to crimes with which they are directly familiar and avoid rumors or crimes about which they have only read in the newspapers or seen on television. Leave that stuff up to the public press.
I don´t have any idea how bad things may become before they become better but let´s hope for the best and in the short run if possible.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
I joined here a long time ago but only started lurking recently, mostly because my head hurt after reading manny's dribble on tob. I suspect I will be checking in here for reliable info more often.
I also predicted to myself that once Lakeside Crime announced it was closing, the crime section on tob would be closed. I figured they would wait another week to make it look better though. I guess the moderators were tired of locking every thread.

OK, I'm new here, I know what site everyone is talking about when they reference "TOB", but what does the TOB stand for?

Don't feel bad. I didn't know what it stood for either. Thanks for letting us know.
I too am new to this board. I'm glad I finally discovered it. Actually someone who posts here, saw me on the street and told me about this forum.

To me “TOB” (The other board) is Chapala.com and “OSTOB” (Oh Shit, That other board) is the one run by the you-know-who @sshole. Ha! Ha! Ha!

I got off the phone with one of my friends just a little while ago, she said she posted the link to this forum and explained that while it was rough at times, there is info. ( I think I got that right). Well I had read this already so I went on and looked for her post. IT IS GONE!! Don't know if she was banned or not, she didn't answer the phone when I called.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
A good place to get the word out would be FB.
There are a number of Ajijic & Chapala FB accounts.
Ajijic News
Ojo del lago
and others, so those with FB accounts could post the links over there and drive some people over here.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
If you want to pass info along to people on TOB that look like they might appreciate it .... PM them about an option. For most newbies it won't make a difference but a few it will. Open posts on that forum are just asking for trouble
Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
MC has posted a link and it amazingly hasn't been deleted as yet. The problem with his link is that it cannot be bookmarked which is causing some people problems.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
Well maybe someone can post this correct link:
https://lakechapalainfo.forumotion.net/
Or tell them to simply Goggle "Inside Lakeside". We are at the top of the search now with so many daily hits.

Re: Wow! This from a friend. . .
Hopefully persons who get the link off Chapala.com will learn that if they copy the link and bring it up in a new window they should be able to bookmark it.
