Grumpy Gringos Empty Grumpy Gringos

Post by gringomojado Sat May 12, 2012 2:35 pm

Where do all the grumpy gringos(as) come from? Have they been deported? Seems that gringos are grumpier than Mexicans!
Are you grumpy or cheerful? Do you think gringos (as)are grumpy, or is my perception goofy?

The grumpy gringos are the one's who can't grasp the language or culture and it magnifies their grumpiness by trying to control things they can't...they can't let go. Actually, old grumpies hormonally should get sweeter the older they get...big ol softies...guess some have gone down fighting ;)

I call them the "Don't-You-Know-Who-I-Think-I-Am?" people.

When you smile at 'em and say "Good Morning," they give you a look usually reserved for a plague-carrying bill collector.

That sort of behavior used to bother me. Now, after 12 years living in Mexico, I just grin and realize once again why most of my good friends are always-friendly Mexican folks.

Mexican folks are generally friendly, but don't be to hard on your fellow "gringos".
Ignore the grumps; don't interact with them any more than you have to. There are plenty of pleasant foreigners here, too.

I think much of the grumpiness is simply global disappointment with the way their lives turned out. Unmet expectations, unsatisfactory relationships, and the notion that Mexico "should" whatever. Plus, getting old ain't for sissies and a lot of people are suffering chronic pain. I've noticed that old Mexicans don't look too cheery when they're having physical problems, either.

The thing I've noticed on this board that hopefully is not contagious........is a lack of tolerance towards one another. "I don't want to go there....too many gringos". Please. If you can't bring yourself to love your neighbor, at least don't trash him..or her. What's the point?

I suspect that smiles were taxed heavily where the GOG's came from, so they learned to ration them sparingly.

Totally unlike the unabashed, wide open, tax-free grins of the Mexicans when all you say is "buenos."
