ATV - where to purchase? used ok
I am trying to help my Tia find an ATV, used ok, that can pull a small utility trailer.
It is for the workers at her Fracc, which is quite hilly and deep.
Currently the workers have to carry their tools, ladders etc from the bodega at the base of a steep hill to their work site.
A used machine would be ok.
My tia is fluent in Spanish so if a trip to GDL is required, no problem.
gracias!

pd: The golf cart option was explored and quickly eliminated. Expensive to buy and maintain and those teeny tiny wheels are not practical for the rough, hilly environment. I doubt if the trannys are made for such work either. Plus, it's difficult to look cool driving them, even if one painted flames on the side and installed fuzzy dice....

Re: ATV - where to purchase? used ok
Does anybody know what is needed to drive ATV/golf carts on the streets?
I see some ATV with plates and insurance I assume but never seen plates
on a golf cart. I guess my worry is if you hit someone or something with
a golf cart is that like getting into an accident in a car without insurance?

Golf carts are not legal. Neither a unplated ATVs. It's prudent to drive a licensed and insured vehicle.

SenorDorky, it sounds like something along the lines of a John Deere Gator or a Kawasaki Mule (probably others, too) would be good for your needs. They are both small off-road "pick-ups" but I am sure you could add a small trailer if you really wanted to. I don't know about the availability.

Just drive down the caraterra from Chapala to Jocotepec. I see them for sale at the side of the road all over the place.

You cannot have these insured, we tried. We owned an ATV and a Yamaha Rhino and had them both plated but they will not insure them due to theft.
