Cashier's Checks

I am going NOB for a week. Can I bring a cashiers check back? Can I cash and/or deposit it in my account here?

Best to check with the place you plan to use it. Many years ago, I brought a bank draft, and ended up sending it back, as it would have been treated the same as a personal cheque. I ended up having a wire transfer sent to my bank here.

Also check with a casa de cambio. They are often more cooperative than a bank.

Check out Intercam on the Carratera. You can write checks up to $4000.00 USD. It takes approx. 48 hours after you fill out application, for approval. Once approved it takes a few minutes, write the check and they will convert to pesos....no charge and a better exchange rate than most banks here. They will also give you a check in pesos so you can deposit @ your bank.....no charge, however it takes a couple hours.
