Tacking on the endings.
Just when you think you have it figured out, they throw the irregular verbs in there and the rules out the window. Lizzy

O.k, just got this from my friend in the states: "Here is the thing, you can make it to be offensive or just an exclamation. Guey or wey, yes some times can be offensive-like pinche guey. Hay guey is something you say when you are surprised. Guey the closest thing if you translate may be dumb ass."

Words to watch out for (not offensive, but easily confused, especially if not pronounced correctly): harina, orina, arena

My hubby who is learning Spanish told everybody at work, "Mi esposa preparó un pan de orina" (he meant to say "harina") Which is "My wife made urine bread". Whoops! Got a big laugh on that one. "un pan de arena" wouldn't be too appetizing, either...

Harina - ( A-REE-NA) - flour
Oriña - (O-REE-NYA) - urine
Arena - (A-REY-NA) - sand

Sometimes we cause them to laugh their arses off, but they'll love us all the more for it. Just the fact that we are trying to learn goes a long way. Lizzy

I'm pretty sure it's "la orina", not "oriña"... look it up...

GM ~ The word you want is BOLLOCKS.... the British term for balls. A BULLOCK is a young bull. The word occasionally is used to mean a steer. Lizzy

¡Nada! güey.

By the way, güey. The word güey is a derivative of the word buey in a similar way that manches stems from mames.

And güey although sometimes is used to describe a jerk it is most commonly refers to a moron. No seas güey, buey.
