Fish and Chips, English style Empty Fish and Chips, English style

I doubt there's an English style joint Lakeside. If so, let us/me know please.
Next question. What would be an acceptable Fresh Mx substitute for the fish? Cod like. Then there's the spuds - you know, the baker types, they make the best fries. Fresh made fries versus McCains frozen - you know the ones, they're the ones you get on every restaurant plate. I have had a baked spud Lakeside so I know they're out there.
I have a little deep fryer so it would be big fun. Personal fav - Kaki- deep fried Panko encrusted oysters. Yum.
Thx.

I really have no clue but “Magana” by others is supposed to be fairly good. In fact the only reason I post this is in hopes someone else will respond and let me know. Beer

I go to Cafe Mangana for their authentic fish & chips. The owner is British and they are authentic, served with real malt vinegar. His restaurant is in Riberas on the lake side of the road. It's near a bright orangy yellow insurance building and has a sandwich board outside. It's in a little strip mall area with a car wash across the street.

Another alternative, although fish and chips isn't my cuppa.....but I'm hearing that the Lake Taco place behind the Pemex on the libramento has the real deal, and from the sight of the plates going by while we munch our burritos, they LOOK good. Generous servings. Malt vinegar is among the condiments on the add-your-own bar.

I will speak from experience in saying that those tacos and burritos are fresh, tasty and huge. Nice lake view; good service and visible food preparation.

I have a friend who just ordered fish and chips at La Nueva Posada and it looked good, but no malt vinegar.

Today was the day we actually ordered the fish and chips at Lake Taco and also split a burrito between us.
Fish and chips usually results in an unhappy stomach for me from grease overkill, but this fish had a light as air batter and the chips didn't leave a trail of oil behind. The fish tasted very fresh. (My husband liked it even better since he got more of it.) It came with a very tasty tartar sauce cup and a bottle of Heinz malt vinegar.
This may not be your mum's fish and chips from the Old Country, but I liked it.
I didn't like the fish and chips at Magana's. I know, it's a matter of taste. For me, all their food is too greasy. Don't like Mom's either: same reason.
Obviously, my absence hasn't slowed their business down, even a bit. (grin)

Next, we'll try the Score.

OK I looked for Lake Taco but obviously in the wrong place today. Can someone tell me where it is located. I had to make do with a Subway.

Malt Vinegar? It's a lot closer for me.

You were in the Laguna Mall. Keep going farther up the libramento to the PEMEX station next time: go behind the station to where the Car Wash is, and next door is a large palm palapa with a Lake Taco sign. I don't think you can see it from the road itself. There is parking back there for a few cars, but there's other parking nearby.

At least this Subway has fresh sandwiches. Very Happy

I went through the Pemex mall but didn't see it. I'll look more carefully next time. I waited over 10 years here for fish and chips and now I have 3 places to eat them. I'll be trying Score and Lake Taco next. I also hear the fish tacos at Lake Taco are divine.

Yes, those are fine tacos. You can have the fish grilled or breaded in them. You've waited long .........you deserve some.

If you were to shoot an arrow through the PEMEX station towards the back, you would hit the car wash and next door: LAKE TACO. It's an open air Palapa, a few steps up from the parking area..
