Los Voladores de Papantla from Veracruz
his year's Mexican National Chili Cook-Off will have some very special entertainment.
Los Voladores de Papantla from Veracruz will be preforming daily during this charity fund-raiser. They will appear on Friday, February 10th at 1:20pm, twice on Saturday, February 11th, at 11:30 and 1:15 and once on Sunday, February 12th at 1-pm.
The voladores, or" flyers", dress in brilliantly colored traditional costumes, climb up a 150 foot pole, tie their ankles to ropes wound around the pole and them jump off, "flying" gracefully around and around as the ropes unwind until they reach the ground. As the voladores "fly", another performer balances at the top of the pole and plays haunting tunes on his wooden flute.
The world famous Anasticio Jacinto Group, are Totonac Indians and the voladores rite is a traditional act of worship. An ancient spiritual offering in the form of a spectacular dance.
This is just part of the non-stop live entertainment at this year's chili cook-off in Ajijic.

Los Voladores are from Puebla. You have been sold a bill of goods as phony as your chili which is not a Mexican product but a Texas concoction equivalalent to a cheeseburger in Luverne, Alabama Why not make an Elvis sandwich and hold a contest in which the major moron is the winner.

If you can´t see that, MC, I can´t help you. Perhaps some Mogen David and Saltines will prepare you for the evening feast but, by all means, bring a can opener and a bunson burner.

Dear dog
yes there are voladores in Cuetzalan and other places in Puebla but Papantla has them too. Some of the guys you saw in Cuetzalan, Puebla were from Papantla.
Oh my how fast do we forget what we just saw...
Just hope they bring more vanilla beans with them . David you should have them bring the beans , I bet a lot of people would be interested in buying some beans at a good price. at the chili cook off.

Well said, MC. Now for a favorite Mogen David cocktail:
One liter of Mogen David
One liter of Herradura Blanco Tequila
Ten limes
30 Little Envelopes of Splenda
One Liter of Havana Club Dark Rum
Five Seville Bitter Oranges
One Liter of Calvados
Give the Mogen David to the dog. Mix the other suggested ingredients and ingest them with pommes frites lathered in bearnaise sauce.
Heaven
