Re: Flu Warnings
drmike...I love you!
I don't get vaccines either. In fact, my children don't have all the "recommended" vaccines either.
I have a brother and sister who developed autism (at the age of four without any prior issues or family history) within a couple months of their vaccines. Oddly, my other brother was sick that day and didn't get the vaccine...he's fine.
I researched the swine flu vaccine when the world was scared and found out that more people died from the vaccine than from the swine flu.
I found that you can determine the results of studies by seeing the sources...no need to read more. Anything contradictory to big pharma is not published either. All new medicines are significantly better (regardless of tried and true older ones that are now available in generic form) and far superior to the past versions.
I could rant about the US healthcare system for quite some time...easily. It is very refreshing to see a doctor who doesn't just accept what he is told and is willing to have an open mind.

Re: Flu Warnings
Alfnannie and SusieSunshine, thank you for your emails. SusieSunshine your story of your brother and autism is all too frequent and the Big Pharmaceuticals keep sending out "peer reviewed studies" which show no connection between Vaccines and autism but too often as doctors we saw the autistic child who had received all the recommended vaccines. Keep your research up and I'll keep preaching. Maybe someday our voices will be heard and not drowned out.

Alfnannie,
Thank you for the link to the article. That is an excellent summary of what I've been trying to say and Dr. Mercola is extremely well-versed in alternative medicine and natural methods of healing and prevention of disease.
If the people reading this have not begun taking Vitamin D3 or spending more time in the sun (converting cholesterol into Vitamin D3) then please start as soon as possible as we are still in the flu season.
Thanks again.

Re: Flu Warnings
FYI - I got the flu shot this year - I have asthma and need to prevent respiratory infections - I also take vitamin D3. I have not had the flu or a sniffle this year.
My friend did not get the flu shot - he has the flu now and at age 77 it has caused heart problem and complications. I now have to take him to a lung specialist in Guadalajara.
While I believe it is possible to have a reaction or problem with vaccines, I believe that flu shots and many other vaccines prevent many more problems, and deaths than they cause. Not one shoe fits all.

Re: Flu Warnings
Well, what you say is fine. Everybody has to make their own decisions. I can only suggest what the anecdotal evidence and my experience show. You can believe whatever you want. I too have asthma and diabetes and refuse to get the vaccine. I can't remember the last time I have had the flu. The vaccine is only effective about 20% of the time, so if you think it protects you...get it. I trust vitamin D3 much more than the vaccine.

I used to get the Flu Vaccine in the States and I got it for two years here because I'm an epileptic, under control with meds. If I got a serious flu or diahrrea it changes the metabolism of the body and you lose the effectiveness of the meds, thus an epileptic must replenish the electrolytes in the body with either Pedialyte or a Sports drink.
I have not had Flu Vaccine for 9 years now and have not had the flu, knock on wood. I always got minor sympoms when I got the vaccine. I meticulously wash my hands in hot soapy water every time I return home from being outside or after eating. And I don't use antibacterial soap. Seems to work for me.

Re: Flu Warnings
Excellent John! Yes, if you have diarrhea you need to replenish your electrolytes. Pedialyte work fine for that. Wash your hands as you are now doing but especially after using shopping carts, those handles are particularly filthy. Antibacterial soaps are a particular Trojan Horse and pet peeve of mine. They kill off all bacteria (the good and the bad). You need some bacteria to boost your immune system.
Keep doing what you're doing. It's working for you.

I do think the hand cleaners (based on Isopropal) do have one valid use in Mexico. When you travel and bathrooms don't have running water I
always carry a small bottle of hand cleaner in my pocket. Also useful if you pet strange animals or to clean the shopping cart handles which as
Doc says are bad bad bad germ wise. I always carry a small bottle which I refill from large bottle. I do not use antibacterial soaps in my house
besides I think Fabuloso will kill anything including my sense of smell :-) :-)

Fabuloso is antibacterial - says so on the bottle.

Re: Flu Warnings
You are correct Z in the use of isopropanol hand cleaners. They are great to carry with you for when you use shopping carts, toilets without running water, etc. We keep a bottle in our car for such emergencies. I was referring to Dial (etc.) antibacterial soaps. It seems our society has become full of germaphobes, for no reason except advertising has told us all germs are bad. We need some to keep our immune system strong.

I thought it came both ways but my bottle in real small letters does say antibacterial.
