Hadn't been in a long time.

It's never had top notch food, but you can't beat the atmosphere and setting.

The Baguette de Salmon was surprisingly good and very generous with the amount of salmon given the low price of 120p!  I have paid in excess of 300p for less salmon at other eateries.  The salmon was cooked nicely and the baguette came with some better-than-average french fries (skin on and crisp).   The baguette had melted cheese on it; I'd ask them to hold the queso next time.  It wasn't off-putting, I just have a thing about cheese and fish.

I wholeheartedly agree about the compatibility of cheese and fish- I find it a horrible combination and the worst meal I've ever had in Mexico was fish tacos that they filled with grated cheese. It was unedible.
And while I love salmon, I want to know if the salmon is wild or farmed and won't support the farmed salmon industry.

I have an exception for cheese and fish.

My grilled quesadillas stuffed with Canuck Bob's smoked salmon and local goat cheese.  I throw in some fried onions and poblanos, cilantro and a dash of chipotle molido before it hits the grill.

They are amazing!

Peacock Garden Empty Do you ever eat any meat. Can't find hardly any of them running wild.

Yes, I agree smoked fish is a bit different. Smoked salmon or lox with cream cheese is classic and yummy. The tacos I had were regular fish, maybe mahi-mahi, with some kind of grated cheese.

Thanks for the plug. There will be another batch of salmon available at the store tomorrow.

The only cheese I like on fish is on my Filet O Fish from rotten ronnies.........

Enjoy the peacocks but last time I had the fish and chips and they were not good. It's hard to find good fish and chips Lakeside and most do not provide the mandatory malt vinegar.

How I miss a good plate of lightly battered halibut and chips...
