Bye Bye Ilox
My internet went out on Tuesday morning. I contacted Ilox and they said it appears to be a problem with my line and they need to send out a technician. I asked them when they could do that, and they said maybe Saturday as they are backed up on repairs. Well, that was the wrong answer so I called TotalPlay and asked how soon they could install. They said tomorrow (Wednesday) so I agreed to that and now I am a TotalPlay customer. So far so good.
I was an Ilox customer since the beginning however their service has been declining the past year or so. Outages have been happening every couple of weeks or so and their speed was up and down by the minute.

I was also one of the first with Ilox and stuck with them until Total Play came along. Adios Ilox. So far, so good. Ilox had deteriorated so bad after one year that I was using my phone as a hotspot every week.

Re: Bye Bye Ilox
I notice the iLox speed variations are extreme. From fast to unusable in minutes..

I signed up for iLox when it was still collecting enough pledges to even think about coming here. I waited two years for installation and two years later, TotalPlay came along. Better service, better speed and I've only been without service for one day in nearly two years now and that was because of a faulty modem. It was replaced on the spot. LOVE THEM!

I have to agree. I was also a pre-signer with Ilox, but switched to to two years ago.

CBob. Let us know how stopping iLox service goes. I've heard it's a bitch.

Re: Bye Bye Ilox
I don't suspect I'll have any problems. I am going to give them their modem back and then instruct my CC company to put a halt on any further payments.

Re: Bye Bye Ilox
I've never given or been asked to give my cc to any utility or ISP. I either pay cash (CFE) or use Paypal (Total Play) or use one-time cc payment in person where the vendor cannot store my cc data (ILOX).
The reason I never went down the auto payment road is because one of the first expat stories I heard here in 2008 was about a woman who could never get TelMex to stop billing her cc long after she stopped service, returned modem and moved back to the US.

It is very simple to call your CC company and put a stop payment on an auto payment. You just need to name of the company and the exact amount the auto billing is.

I’ve been very happy with Total Play. I hope they don’t go down the tubes like many others have,
