Tamales and Tacos
Is there anywhere locally to get these made with scorpions and grasshoppers?

Funny what people consider to be gross, when they haven't ever even tried it. So shrimp is something most people think is great, but grasshoppers aren't?
I was once going through the check-out at a supermarket in Creston, B.C. As my mangoes came through on the conveyor belt, the check-out girl asked me what they were- she didn't know how to look for the price. I said, "They're mangoes, you've never eaten a mango before?" She screwed up her face as if I'd asked if she hadn't ever tried eating an earthworm, and said with a disgusted look, "No!".

Chapulines (grasshoppers) are very common in Oaxacan foods. Outside the main market they sell them by the basketfuls!
They are tasty, crunchy and high in protein.
There was a small Oaxacan restaurant in Ajijic back in 2009 or 2010 and she incorporated chapulines in many dishes. She made excellent Oaxacan foods, but sadly the eatery closed.
I have seen chapulines for sale at times on the weekend on the Ajijic malecón by the same vendor who sells french-fried charales there.

You've tasted lawn clippings, Bob? Perhaps they just weren't prepared well. :-)
Reminds me of my ex-boyfriend who used to say eating tofu was like eating pencil erasers.
