Tamales tamales tamales
I have been going through tamale withdrawal ever since Mele's Tamales left the Tuesday Market. But no more! The Tuesday Market has a new Tamale Guy and he makes wonderful tamales! They are the kind made in banana leaves rather than corn husks and the masa is a slightly different texture - a bit creamer. They are made with (depending on who you talk to) vegetable oil or olive oil rather than pork lard. He has a variety of fillings including beef, chicken and pork as well as chile rajas with corn and I think frijoles. Only 20 pesos each. Well worth the trip.

Thanks for the heads-up.
If it's 'creamier' it's got more fat in it. Please ask him if it is Manteca, olive oil, or veg oil. Thanks, Flamingo.
