Major Category 3 as of the latest weather channel update at 10 a.m. our time.

http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_ep5+shtml/204844.shtml?5-daynl

It's been misting on & off here. How about where you are?

With the reputation our area has, wonder if we'll have any issues with power? May be a good idea to have some extra drinking water on hand and have on hand what you need, just in case.

I'm in Barra de Navidad at the moment. It is raining lightly and there is a small to medium swell. No wind yet. It looks like the brunt of the storm might pass by and hit land further north. Maybe the Chamela area. But there will be some heavy rain and wind regardless.

The forecast keeps putting landfall later and later. Now looking at tonight or tomorrow, maybe it'll stay out at sea :) Don't float away! Tomorrow's a full moon as well!

Here's some video coverage. Looks like Barra de Navidad...I saw Solovino riding it out on his lancha w/some cranes & some street flooding in PV, which is typical there.

@John, you are very welcome. Glad you found them helpful.

Google the Barra de Navidad forum. Folks there have posted some great photos of the ocean and what's happening and also some You Tube links.

Talking to a CFE supervisor who said they'll cut power tonight when the wind hits a certain velocity. CFE sent the bulk of its crews to the Perula area where Jova is expected to hit land.

Pretty miserable here this morning! Do you think they are really going to run with the torch?

If we were in Vancouver, yes, they would run with the torch.

Not sure about here.

Maybe they'll have a tall guy on stilts holding an umbrella over the torch?

If anyone sees the torch or gets a photo please post here. I'm out west and plan not to come in town today so as to stay out of the way.

There's been a light to moderate sprinkling all day in Chapala and hardly enough wind to mention.

This is all the rain we're going to get, which isn't much. Might get a thunder storm out of the system. My plants are loving it! I'm not one who enjoys a cloudy day but if it's doing something, like raining, I'm cool with that. Forecast to be a little warmer today. Tomorrow the sun is back!!
