Lakeside Medical Group Empty Lakeside Medical Group

Post by jgriff Wed Jun 23, 2021 1:56 pm

Hola

I thought I would reach more people if I posted this here rather than in the Medical section.
I just got an email from Lakeside Medical Group that they have had many complaints from customers about SA Hospital and after looking into the complaints they have decided to drop SA Hospital from their list of hospitals that they will deal with. So I am thinking that the closest hospitals will be in Guadalajara.

I went to their website and I still can't figure out what their purpose is.  They aren't an insurance company; they aren't a medical group.  Their site references getting expats covered here in Mexico via Medicare Supplemental plans and Medicare Advantage plans.  They don't charge for their services.  Yet they say they file with your US insurance company on your behalf.

I'm getting a whiff of a scam here, unless someone who has used it can enlighten me.

Received the same email. We have had services at the hospital including inpatient and service was great. Wonder what the complaints are about??

No scam   They take care of all the billing back to your insurance company.  They have been nothing but professional with me and my Pacific Blue Cross insurance company.  I have been rushed to the hospital 5 times and they have a representative at the hospital contacting your insurance company so you don't have too. Takes the stress off.
I am not sure what the complaints have been because all the times I have been taken to SA Hospital the service was outstanding.

I am more suspect about their references to Medicare Supplementals, not private insurance.

Does the email say whether the complaints were about care at the hospital, or billing issues?

Since LMG doesn't charge for its services to its members, one has to wonder how they make their money---kickbacks?

Complaints about medical and nursing care and upon researching complaints were valid. I have never experienced any poor service there. It’s always been prompt and professional.

I would think that they charge back service to the hospitals they service. This way hospitals do not have to have their own personnel dealing with the insurance agencies.
As for Medicare Supplemental I can't comment on that as I have full coverage.

I am thinking that maybe SA Hospital is wanting to lower the rate they are paying LM for handling claims. I as well have not heard any complaints from anyone I know who has or goes to SA Hospital.

But didn't LMG sent our emails saying there were complaints about care that they viewed as valid, per sm1mex?? Can't believe HSA is going to let that email stand unanswered.

I have no dog in this fight and will wait for the fallout. This thread from several years ago may be of interest to some ... https://www.chapala.com/webboard/index.php?/topic/82341-lakeside-medical-group-riberas/
Draw your own conclusions. In the meantime, I will continue to use the services of the San Antonio Hospital.

jgriff, can we assume that your Pacific Blue Cross insurance is NOT associated with Medicare... as in a Medigap or MedicareAdvantage policy. i.e. a personal insurance policy that covers your care in Mexico?

Hi Rick

Sorry for the late reply.

I am in BC and my Pacific Blue Cross is funded by my wife's employer. Yes, it's personal insurance.

If Lakeside Medical Group is now called Chapala Med 2 they have some good specialists that come in from Guadaljara. I paid the specialist directly.
