Finally! Today’s evening news pointed out that it is extremely important to have good blood levels of vitamins C and D and zinc.
This’s how many months into the pandemic? This information has been known since the beginning.

No it's not rocket science. It's not even first grade science and proof has been provided ad nauseum.
Houcks started a thread on TOB about masks and promptly shut it down when people didn't agree with him. Lots of proof was provided over there early in the pandemic as well.

Regarding masks, there is this recent study which disputes the significant beneficial effects of masks. My opinion has always been that the wearing of masks is to protect other people and to a more limited extent, yourself.

So they tested people who wore masks FOR ONE MONTH but "some people, of course, did not wear their masks properly. Only 46 per cent of those wearing masks in the trial said they had completely adhered to the rules."... and absolutely nothing about the severity of the Covid that some of those contracted. That's some kind of scientific study. And social distancing? Hand washing?

With most people in most countries wearing masks, the prevalence of good old ordinary influenza is waaaaay down.
When you protect yourself, you also protect others.

I am not advocating not wearing masks and I agree that based upon the abstract, there is no accounting for confounding factors. I am still in favour of wearing masks until there is better evidence that it does not work. However, it is the only randomised controlled study, I am aware of. Please feel free to quote another study which says different. As far as Influenza is concerned, your lack of knowledge is glaring - correlation is not the same as causation. Please give your own head a shake.

The Lancet, the New England Journal of Medicine, and JAMA, the Journal of the American Medical Association have all rejected the Danish study. The Danish study is still under peer review.

I spent all my working life as an RN in surgery and critical care units. Every hospital keeps tabs on cross infections. All surgical infections are closely scrutinized. When a “super bug” is found in a unit the patient is isolated and cross infections are followed up. These practices have been developed over decades and are practiced in hospitals all over the world.
I’ve worked in many hospitals across the US, Mexico and Puerto Rico. There is no question whatsoever as to the efficacy of using masks both in protecting the patients and medical workers taking care of them.
