Re: ILOX
I'm still having problems in Riberas. I wrote them an e-mail on Friday and it was replied to in 5 minutes... said they were sending it to their engineering department.
I will send them another one tomorrow.
Really glad that I have Telmex as a backup though.

Re: ILOX
It seems alot of modems have broken. Was at ILOX office and all three of us had bad modems. They replaced the modem with a newer one at my house later. Mine was white. Fiber hookup is underneath the modem on the new one. Have not tried WIFI to see if it is any different than black modem. Tech who came and replaced the modem said things will still be a little wonky for a week or so. Mine seems fine now in SE SAT.

Mine is white and connected underneath it. It still doesn't work. I did send another e-mail on Monday and got another prompt reply that the engineers are looking into it. Duh. Now 9 days without iLox.

Re: ILOX
My modem was not working right a couple months ago, they replace with another black one which is bigger than the last one and it is working perfectly..

Re: ILOX
How is the wifi on it? Can you get connected to it from a room or two away?

Re: ILOX
I can get signal a room or two away with my original ilox modem.

The trick to great ILOX service is to live on the same street as tkessler.

Then please ask tkessler WTF is going on. Still no action on my modem. The power light is on but nobody's home. Shades of Telmex starting to creep into my love for iLox.

Re: ILOX
Sounds like your line has become disconnected. Have you wiggled the fiber line going into the modem?

Is your PON light red, green, or green blinking?

The ONLY light that is on is the power light.

Do you have the white fiberhome modem?

And I assume you've done the reset with a paperclip or whatever?

Yes, I have done the reset with the paperclip... at least 10 times.

Sorry for your luck. It's a little strange, because if the problem was the connection to the Ilox servers, your LOS light should be solid red. You may have a bad modem. I don't know if they will give you a new one at the service center, but it might be worth a try.

Re: ILOX
Thanks for trying. I have been told, in two separate e-mails, that they KNOW I have a problem and keep telling me that someone will come and check it out. Sigh.

Re: ILOX
The lights on the two different white Fiberhome ONTs can not be counted on to report with any accuracy. For me, all the important lights were on and I had NO service for about 5 days. A family member who is a senior technician for Bell Fibre in Canada told me there could be lots of reasons, none of them consistent with the way the circuitry is supposed to work.
(The newer version of the white iLox/Fiberhome ONT --and presumably the newer black-- provides better WiFi. You can only tell from the part number on the bottom which is which, because they look identical. I don't even know if I have the newer one anymore or not. I've added extenders and VPN routers to my system, so it doesn't matter now.)
I can also report that after dozens of emails to iLox to get answers about my drop from 300 Mbps to 4 Mbps, the last message I got was June12 (other than the one reminding me to pay my bill for the fastest service). I continued sending two a day until June 18. All phone calls were eventually dropped while on hold. I went into the office three times. (When most people got hooked up again last week, mine had also been completely off, and surprisingly came back on at full contracted download speed.)
iLox service ranks right up there with the worst you've ever experienced with TelMex.

Anybody know what is going on in Tjamulco de Zuniga, internet wise? Carlos Slim seems to want to create digital hub there. Everytime I clickon the Spanish link, it goes to his announcement about launching a bitcoin bank. I have always thought that Chapala and Ajijic would an ideal digital hub. Especially attracting digital workers from all over the world. Especially since the U.S. visa ban for the skilled worker visa. Many of them are from India, I wonder how locals will accept them as welcoming as they have for current expats, or iPats?

Re: ILOX
Be aware Ookla Speedtest stopped working correctly on ILOX about three weeks ago. It gives very low incorrect results. I switched to nperf (just put this into google) and it shows results that are correct. This is what ILOX uses. It gives some very interesting data.
One big use of the LOS (loss of signal) light is it shows if someone cut your line. Happened to me when they were cutting the trees for the new power poles in SE SAT. I am sure light has more than one purpose.
