Border crossing INTO Mexico?
Are US tourists still allowed to enter MX with a vehicle and get a TIP for it?
I've heard of some issues in Nogales but is this wide-spread, enforced?

Re: Border crossing INTO Mexico?
Thanks, but I'm not interested in what the US says just whether MX allows entry.

Agreed, everyone in-place is necessary. I'm just running out of time to go out and back in again to stay legal with my vehicle. Spencer has recently said that there will be an extension for tourist visa holders that are trapped here but for how long? I was curious as to what is happening now since the US & MX have agreed to no non-essential crossing until the end of the month. Fingers crossed....

I'm pretty sure both the Canadian and Mexican borders are closed to/from the US for tourism. The essential services only.
Not sure about entry via air.

The United States and Mexico entered a joint initiative March 21 restricting non-essential travel along the U.S.-Mexico land border to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Non-essential travel includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature.

A woman I know is supposed to be stuck in San Antonio, TX, unable to fly back. I'm pretty sure she is permanente. Another couple I know drove back into Mexicol~March 13 or so. I don't know if you could get gas, food, services now.. they are refusing truckers.. Piedras Negras you wouldn't have to cross into US to authenticate whatever online permitting Spencer said is in effect now.
You will likely lose your TIP deposit anyway, since chaos rules now. Even on a good day, w all i's dotted & t's crossed, Adua na seems entitled to your $400 deposit. Been waiting for mine...'in process' for 6 months now. Guess I am glad my vehicle is in TX now, 1 less vehicle to go missing when the fun here really begins.

I would like to see some reference for your statement "they are refusing truckers". As far as anyone knows, trade is still taking place, or we sure would have heard about it.

CG, do you why Polo at SL is having trouble getting his imported foods from the US and seemingly elsewhere? Is it lack of availability or border crossing SNAFU?

This was posted by Spencer TODAY (Tuesday) on TOB. READ carefully because it addresses your TIP question as well...

It is my understanding that if you are a permanent resident you can enter Mexico with only a health check. Can someone confirm this?

and hopefully be in isolation for 2 weeks.. because otherwise it is the perfect storm, coming from a country where there are lots of people feeling good and passing on the virus is the perfect way to bring some more here. Everyone should stay put period. Is that difficult to understand??

Agree, B. Our Lakeside Pt #1 in Tiazapan was a visitor from California and apparently brought the virus with him.

Mexico shouldn't let anyone in from the US at this time. Resident or not.

Re: Border crossing INTO Mexico?
My suspicion is that all the people that make up the inventory trail for his stuff are restricted to home, or considered not essential, or can't access resources like label printing in Spanish, or something along those lines... so when Polo says "until the border opens" I'm guessing he means their circumstances, not an actual border closing.slainte39 wrote:CG, do you why Polo at SL is having trouble getting his imported foods from the US and seemingly elsewhere? And I can see them selling all their stuff off so that it's not all stale-dated when they do reopen. I think there is more at play here, and that some of it has to do with troubles they created for themselves after Pancho left.

Totally agree, CG!
And he has competition now that he never had before. It's not unreasonable to think he may never reopen. . .
