Not sure that will happen. Congress may not agree, especially for those going south and also the vast amount of goods going south. I would drive.

I would fly. Things could get real sticky in March.

Re: Border Crossing Colombia
I think tensions will increase in March. There is no immediate solution to the present problem. Obrador is not going to solve it only offer jobs or asylum. There will also be a new Congress in place. Hard to predict what will happen. Getting into Mexico is no problem. getting out could be.
March is not that far off and I think we will have the same immigration crisis as now. The only thing Mexico gives its ear to is closing the frontier. It is a crap shoot. Of course, you can always fly out and leave the car here.
It is a personal choice to make.

A tempest in in a teapot......
I would give huge odds that things will be as normal as they always are.

The OP lives in Cobourg, Ontario, Mike. I don't think he will be coming via Tijuana. I would agree with you if he was coming from BC

Re: Border Crossing Colombia
Crossing at Tijuana would be for those going to the Baja peninsula not the mainland.

Columbia is the most realistic crossing point... Make sure you gas up on the US side to take advantage of the lower prices... You need to pick up a TIP for your car ($400 USD deposit or credit card) and a tourist visa. The TIP will be returned when you exit Mexico... TIP and visa good for 180 days...

Doc Holiday: the OP asked for “Any comments that are factual” and not for predictions and speculations based on fever dreams.

Re: Border Crossing Colombia
Doc Holiday, there is enough reality for us all to be concerned about. We do not need to make stuff up out of ignorance, fear, and rumor which I have observed you tend to do. I just hate seeing you offering that up to someone asking for factual comments. Good luck to you also.

Yes, some people's definition of 'factual' is "what I just heard somewhere.... maybe. But I surely didn't check it out because that would take a lot of effort on my part and I'm not into that!".

Re: Border Crossing Colombia
You are missing the point. Getting into Mexico at any crossing is not of concern nor problem.
The problem is that before you get into anything have a way to get out. Odds are way in favor of having no problem returning to Canada.
If by some chance there was a problem driving back, you could always fly back and ship your car.
The key here is to have an exit strategy just in case.

Re: Border Crossing Colombia
It appeared to me that the OP was looking for a reasonable/factual response to the ‘situation at the border’ vis a vie the current US Administration’s take on the border with Mexico. According to the latest US Government data, about 500,000 border crossing, Mexico to the US, occur EACH DAY. 10s of thousands live on the border and cross ‘more than once a day’ for work, business and recreation.
While NO ONE can predict what our President might try on any given day, IMO a reasonable/factual take on any problem getting outa Mexico come March is..... carry on brother. YMMV
