Drivers hit everything, buildings, bridges, poles, posts, curbs, parked vehicles, motos, bicycles, and even pedestrians, and other moving vehicles (on a daily basis).

I laughed out loud when I saw this too.

Here's how strongly I feel about this "project" (that was clearly designed by a group of people who have never set foot, or tire, along the shores if Lago Chapala):  I think the Chapala Bus, Cruz Roja, Bomberos, and the garbage trucks should all go on strike and cease services until the entire project in stopped and scaled down by at least 50%.

I believe that nothing less than that would make the gov even bat an eyelash.

I would suggest the driver had a steering failure and the truck took off in any direction

I would suggest that if any pedestrians had been in the area where people are standing, that concrete barricade would have saved their lives.

And I would suggest that had there been sufficient road space for this vehicle this accident would not have happened.

Well I see they are preparing to repave the caraterra. Thats a good thing.

I drove down the caraterra twice today and really don't see a problem. There is room for emergency vehicles down the middle if both sides pull over. The only reason to ever hit one of those barriers is your blind, drunk, stoned, texting on your phone or avoiding a pedestrian or dog.

When was the last time you took a bus into Chapala? When was the last time you drove into Chapala? What portion of the carretera did you drive today?

All of those reasons happen frequently and are the reality of driving this highway.

That is not my observation. Definitely not room east or west of Encarnacion Rosas on the carretrera for an emergency vehicle to pass through the middle-too narrow.

Maybe CB was driving his Vocho. It makes me laugh when I see tiny Mexican women nervously trying to navigate Escalades or huge mini vans. A lot of the vehicles expats bring or buy down here are really suburban scaled vehicles.

How are the hundreds of trucks that pass through there daily, some larger than this rig, managing to do it? Don´t tell an old i8 wheel operator that there isn´t enough room there.

Absolutely, anyone who thinks there wasn´t enough room for that straight trunk, should never be allowed to drive.

I saw two tractor trailers pass each other no problems. Maybe they will also eliminate any street parking on the caraterra too.
