Charlie Klestadt
I just received this from Margy Kassier: Our dear Charlie K. has passed away. Cruz Roja, Lakeside Charities Grant Program and the entire community will remember him every time something good happens at Lakeside. Ted and I received the following message this morning from Ann Klestadt.
"Last night [Oct. 17th] while Charlie and I slept holding hands, he slipped away from me forever. Please spread the word. We'll have a memorial for him in December, while Marty is here.
Love, Ann”

Oh no oh no oh no. I love Charlie Klestadt. Oh no, such sad news. Please! Be sure and give Ann condolences and hugs. And please post the CofL info.
The very last thing I said to him, as we recently parted in the SL parking lot was "I love you Charlie Klestadt!" Grateful for that.

Re: Charlie Klestadt
I never knew Charlie's last name and had to confirm with Trailrunner if this was THE Charlie. My condolences to his wife and family.
He won't be waiting in line to get through the pearly gates, he will be ushered to the front for all the exemplary acts of kindness and goodwill he performed during his time here on earth.
He will never be forgotten. RIP Charlie.

Such a loss for us and for Ann. Condolences. Charlie's hat should be enshrined somewhere public.

Re: Charlie Klestadt
Yes, good idea! Maybe at Cruz Roja.
There was an older man, before Charlie, that was very active for CR like Charlie was. His name escapes me at the moment, but he initiated a program and collected lots of money for CR from local businesses and was also well-loved like CK. One day he and his wife were driving through the states returning to Mexico and were involved in an accident and both were killed. As I'm sure they are now, CR was devastated. They created a plaque and small memorial on the front wall of the building. Guess it went away with the remodel some years later. That DoftheD I remember helping make a big shrine for the couple in the parking lot. Their whole family came to Mexico for DoftheD and to be at the shrine to greet well-wishers.
We need to do that for Charlie this year! Hat, clipboard, ticket book, necklaces etc.
