Bank recommendations

I have an account at HSBC in San Antonio. I opened one there because I use HSBC in Canada. ATM cash withdrawals were free for years but not now. I have a Premier account at both banks so I can transfer money from HSBC in Canada to HSBC in San Antonio. I do it on my computer, it is instantaneous, no charge and I get a better exchange rate that if I used a debit card in San Antonio to withdraw from my HSBC in Canada. Also when I use my HSBC credit card I get a 2 % discount. So far HSBC works for me.

3 years at BBVA with no problems, their relationship with Wellsfargo
in the US has always been easy and fast regarding transfer of funds and other money matters. Their location just off the Town Square in Ajijic and Chapala very convenient.

Re: Bank recommendations
We arranged to have our SS checks deposited in Actinver some years ago since it is convenient to stop by and get cash there with NO fees. We keep the balance low enough that the non-reporting requirements are met and in an amount we could afford to lose if the worst happened. So far, no problems.
We keep most of our money in a U.S. bank. We don't use debit or credit cards here to pay for purchases here in Mexico.
