Casa Libertad
My new favorite restaurant. Delicious food, veg options, knowledgeable kitchen, good menu, professional friendly service, and beautiful space.

If you are at the Sunrise Cafe; look across the street; next to Century 21 real estate.

Devastated.
They've turned one of my favorite places to eat into a bar. With bar food.
Bummed.

Food is good, not usual bar stuff. I went the other day and will go back, especially as they will be open late.

Bar food? I thought it was supposed to re-open with authentic Mexican cuisine.
Certainly one of the most elegant venues around.

The menu sure looks kind of Mexican to me......
Certainly not Asoan, Italian, or Germsn/. Authenic?.....well, we are in the middle of Mexico so thst lends some credibility.

Re: Casa Libertad
Seriously. And has anyone seen this new gourmet burger place (Lake City Grille) in the same strip as El Ancla? Prices upwards of 220p. Cheapest burger is chicken at $160, veggie burger $180, portobello (um, no meat) $180. Oh, but wait! You get fries.

It seems to be the trend. Went to Malta Grill. Their hamburger was also 150. What is going on?

Too many new gringos who won't bat an eye because they think it's a bargain because it's less than $20.00 like their favorite burger joint in San Francisco. San Diego. Orlando. Chicago. Seattle . . .

And if the peso keeps falling the prices will keep rising.

You want a tasty, generous sized, quality meat burger for a reasonable price?
Order the "sirloin burger" from the regular menu at Cocinart. I think it's 79 pesos. That's with cheese and lean bacon on a good roll.

Re: Casa Libertad
Such a reasonable price these days. Remember when Rick had his burger place on Hidalgo? We all gasped at the 75p price, but it was a damn good burger. So 79 at Cocinart seems more than reasonable right now. Especially with bacon.

Wow. If Cocinart can put out a quality burger for 79 pesos . . . then everybody else is price gouging.

If you see the national TV ads in the US for BK and Wendy´s or Tim Hortons or Harvey´s and others up in Canada, their prices sure aren´t 20.00 dollars, US or Canadian. 6, 7, or 8 US dollars including fries is about on par in all three countries.
Beef. like gold, seems to have an international value. unless you buy local canners and cutters.

So. You're comparing Casa Libertad, Lake City Grille, and Cocinart to BK? Wendy's?

I don´t know, haven ´t eaten a burger in any of those local places, and Carl´s Jr. is my favorite in GDL. Locally, the only places I will eat a hamburger is Panino´s, Gossips, and Bruno´s

I can´t figure where this Lake City Grille is? The three restaurants in that little strip is El Ancla, Jitomate, and Nilsa. Is it across the road or east or west or???

It would be worth expanding your horizons to include the sirloin burger at Cocinart. You'll be surprised!
