Re: Fiber Optics
More than likely. Ilox has sure missed their implementation date. One would think a large company like them would have a better handle on how long it takes to string the lines and get people up and running. What's the latest ETA?

Dunno. It'll happen when it happens.
You, of all people, should have first hand knowledge of "time delays" in getting anything done here. Look at the Ajijic bench project... and give your head a shake. I know that you didn't think it would take as long as it has. Que sera, sera.

Re: Fiber Optics
LOL. I definitely think that they are not. However, you have to admit that it is nearly impossible to get anything done in a timely manner here even if you are paying. My latest example is the arrangement made to come and install a fan and move another. It was supposed to happen yesterday at 9 am. At 9:30, I called... car problem will be there at 11. At 11:30 I called again and made arrangements for him to come Monday at 9 am because I know he's installing air conditioning somewhere for the next three days. Will he come on Monday? Vamos a ver.

Re: Fiber Optics
The fastest on-time construction I have ever seen here were WalMart and AutoZone. I imagine they both have in-house construction crews that know how to get things done. AutoZone was done in about 3 or 4 months.

The first 3 Ilox lakeside customers installed yesterday. The office is finally opening this week. They have 300 prepaids that should install over the next 2 months and another 400 waitlisted. Sorry that it has taken longer than expected but with the office open things should now move quickly.

Re: Fiber Optics
I saw them outside Coppel yesterday laying cable. I asked them, and I am sufficiently versed in Spanish, I asked them what they were doing and they told me they were installing fibre optics for the company IFibra. I was talking to the older guy with the mustache, who I felt like was possibly the boss, I asked him if it was for Ilox and he told me Ilox was another company and that he was installing for a company called IFibra, and that in a month or month and a half they will be done and ready for people to sign up. And that it will cover all of Chapala he said (which I guess will extend to San Antonio and Ajijic?) If you google IFibra, google says that it is a compañía de cable en la Ciudad de México. Apparently, it is also in Brazil, so watch out not to confuse your Spanish with Portugués.

Re: Fiber Optics
Ilox may be using (sub-contracting) IFibra to string the fiber.

Re: Fiber Optics
True, but the guy specifically told me that he was installing fibre optics for IFibra and that Ilox was a totally different company. But another detail is, is that he had a shirt that said telecable and I said but you work for telecable and told me that he is subcontracted to work various companies in the area and now he is working for IFibra.

Re: Fiber Optics
I believe I had this same conversation with this same man. I was holding up traffic and could not ask all the questions you were able to, but he was very specific about saying they were working for IFibra and we would have service in about a month.
