With El Chapo in prison in the US, I would not be surprised if they start kidnapping US citizens...

I think they don't a shit about El Chapo anymore. He is long gone and long replaced. They will more likely have Chapo eliminated while he's in custody. Don't forget who their largest customer is......

Borderland Beat: The owner has always been anonymous, the reporters are anonymous, and the commentators are anonymous. Anyone can contribute news to BB. At times stories have been posted by competing cartels to intimidate the competition. Plays fast and loose with facts

But on the other hand, given what the cartel does to journalists who expose or criticize them, it's no surprise everyone wants to remain anonymous.

Mexico Is the Deadliest Country for Journalists

Yeah, like GDL is Mexico´s third largest city...
It is a 9 mos. old article and things change fast in the narco trafficking world, so who knows who´s on first today?......the police? the reporters? the ex-pats posting on this board?
There is probably a lot of distrust and jealousy, amongst the members of the cartels themselves, as they jockey for position.

If you remember where that originated, you've got "long teeth"

The Shadow, Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, Breakfast Club and President Roosevelt, all lived inside a 10" speaker at the bottom of a large Philco radio in our living room. There was a comfortable rug in front to lie upon, and Morris Chairs for our parents.

RVG...that phrase about "long teeth" was common among horse traders, since the gums tended to recede with age. (I guess it works for people, too.)
All those programs lived in my growing up years, too. The spooky music in the intros really set the mood, too!

Yup! I grew up with horses & know the expression well. That is why one always looks into a horse's mouth, if interested in buying.

Jack Benny is a memory from TV, which came along much later. I can't remember if he was on radio earlier. We did not get TV reception until 1951, and it was seldom good enough to watch; mostly 'snow'. Then, in college, we did not have TV available, except for one small set in the Student Union. Later, I was in a country without TV for a few years, so I never really became a TV watcher until after retirement in 1998.

Jack Benny was on radio at the same time as the others named, before TV.
Fred Allen; same early radio era.

I suspect my memory of Fred was delusional. I do remember George and Gracie.

Oh come on yunguns, the funniest pre TV comedy was Fibber McGee and Molly, The Great Gildersleeve, Life with Luigi. Life of Riley and a few others that didn´t make TV.
Jack Benny and Rochester, Amos and Andy (with an all white cast that HAD to change), Ozzie and what´s her name, Harriet, and a few others, made the transition from radio to TV, for a short time.

My mother religiously listened to Arthur Godfrey on the radio. I was about 7 when we got a television. She would never turn on the TV during the day because those who did were lazy.
