ceiling fans and remote controls
a nuts and bolts question .....
some ceiling fans come with remote controls...
for ceiling fans that don't come with remote controls, can you buy a generic remote control that will work with that fan?
Thanks ....

Re: ceiling fans and remote controls
No, because a remote control fan has all the remote signal parts built into it.

I know Alexa uses smart plugs to turn on/off appliances. Could something like that be used?

You can turn ANY fan into a remote controlled fan. I've done it. Even if you buy a brand new fan with remote control, the part in the box is separate and has to be wired in anyway.
Rafael Granados (who sometimes does fan installations for QuickBlinds etc) is the young man who turned an ordinary ceiling fan into a remote controlled one in the bedroom of the house we rented in La Huerta. 333-486-4706

TOOOO funny. Like as if you want to tell either of them to turn down the fan when there may be somebody else in the bed with you that is fast asleep.
