Remote viewing
Is anyone around here familiar with or has experienced remote viewing?

Re: Remote viewing
By remote viewing are you talking about a sling box or similar device?

No, viewing things/places in your mind but not physically in front of you.

Re: Remote viewing
Thanks for the link Lady O. I stand corrected.
Here's another link...

I particularly liked one of the concluding statements... "So there you have it: Are remote viewing and OBE/astral travel the same? Apparently not. Does it make a difference? Almost certainly. Are they related? Definitely maybe."

"Confirmation bias, also called confirmatory bias or myside bias,[Note 1] is the tendency to search for, interpret, favor, and recall information in a way that confirms one's preexisting beliefs or hypotheses.[1] It is a type of cognitive bias and a systematic error of inductive reasoning. People display this bias when they gather or remember information selectively, or when they interpret it in a biased way. The effect is stronger for emotionally charged issues and for deeply entrenched beliefs."
This is, of course, directed at no one in particular.

Re: Remote viewing
Back in 90s I worked at night and spent (misspent?) a lot of time listening to Art Bell on the radio. When all the rest of talk radio was about politics Art was concentrating on the paranormal. Some of his most frequent guests were professional (even U.S. military trained) remote viewers.
Lately I've been listening to some of his old shows on my wifi radio. It is really funny, having the perspective of hindsight, to see just how little those guys got right. In addition to remote viewers he had a lot of "prophets" , ghostbusters, bigfoot hunters, crop circle reporters, etc. Most have either been debunked or just gone away.
Me, I still look for bigfoot everytime I go out in the woods.

Willie, Over the past 20-30 years I have read many articles about remote viewing. Even that the military had a training program.
I have never experienced it myself. When I much younger I tried to "astral project" or "remote view". But it never happened.

Gravity's Rainbow, Thomas Pynchon - a bizarre book that you can never forget.
https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/gravitys-rainbow-thomas-pynchon/1102478934#/Bought this book in paperback back in the seventies, back when I was all into Phillip K Dick and Hunter Thompson. It's Catch 22 on acid. I've read it through twice with added ocassional visits over the years. It's a peek behind the curtain of the post WW2 world order, but it's the zany cast of characters with their hilarious names that sticks with you over the years. There is just one bizarre scene after another, after another. It would make the most fantastic mini series if only Pynchon weren't such a curmudgeon. You can pick it up and start on virtually any page. It's the perfect "desert island" book. You can finish it, BUT you'll never be quite finished WITH it. It's difficult to get into, impossible to get out. It's so much more readable than "Finnegan's Wake". Pynchon is the anti Ayn Rand. You'll never look at a multinational corporation in quite the same way again. They don't write them like this anymore. It's wicked fun. It's a challenge. Imagine how smug you'll feel. Not for the lazy or the slow witted.
