Be careful at Carretera and Galeana

No traffic light operating for vehicles going east and west. They just breeze through the Galeana intersection because there’s no light to stop them. We saw some near misses today of people going north and south trying to get on or across the Carretera because cars came zooming almost into them. The traffic light needs to be fixed before there is a fatality.

Tell that to the Jalisco govt. who doesn't care. They say they have no money for repairs.

This administración is not going to fix anything! They/He spent all the money. MAYBE the next administration will. Someone will die there, don't let it be you. Cuidate.

Yes. Be very careful whether you are going east or west or north or south. There is no traffic cop there so the only light working is the one that is across from Galeana on the S.E. corner, but no one can see it except the Galeana exit cars. No one from the other 3 directions even know there is a light there, so when the Galeana light turns green and you try to venture out on the Carretera, here comes cars from the east and west, not exactly traveling slow. Very dangerous for cars and people trying to cross the street.

It the state responsibility to fix the light because it's on a state highway. But it seems to me that the Chapala govt. could jump up and down to get it repaired. It's not like they don't have any influence.

It's been that way for well over a month!!!!!

I wish that Lady Gloria Perlas?? would stop sending facebook message extolling God and this administration and get the lights fixed..maybe just tell how much the bulbs cost and we will buy them at WalMart

Used that intersection 4 times between 11AM and 1PM, and there was the same transito police there all 4 times I entered from the north side from Galeana.  He wouldn't always follow the semaforos as he would stop traffic from any direction, anytime for pedestrians.
Keep your eye on the police and forget the lights, and if the poice are not there, just make sure the through traffic on the Carretera has cleared.  It don't take a genius to look both ways anytime whether the lights are working or not. People run red lights all the time even when all the lights are working perfectly.

Exactly what he said. Remember when 4 or so months ago something toppled the poll the street light was on? The streetlight for carretera traveing west is still there but the one facing eastbound traffic is not. (Or vice versa...)

I live in upper Ajijic and use that intersection often to cross the carretera or enter it going east. Sometimes the tránsito is there (mostly mid-day I think) but often not.

I just pay special attention now when crossing the highway there. We're supposed to be doing that anyway, right?

(This said from someone who just had a minor fender-bender in front of Actinver last week. Personally, I blame the Ajijic Wednesday Tianguis traffic and the nice fellow in front of me visiting from Quintana Roo!)

Amen, Slainte. Recently I was moving slowly into an intersection after the perfectly functioning light had turned green when I heard the sound of a car engine at high speed. I stopped in the middle and was turning my head toward the sound when a car raced through the intersection way beyond the speed limit. Had I not stopped, my car would have been t-boned.
