Call the number you were given and get the answers to all your questions because you know you have other questions and will continue to ask each one here, one by one.

Re: Shaw tv
Shaw is not cheap. If you can find a person or friend already on Shaw maybe you can join their subscription and split the costs. You can safely have 3 on a subscription but I would not pass this mark.

Depends on the package, add on stations you might select, and whether or not you are sharing. Best to get the prices from the provider.

Re: Shaw tv
I have a popular priced package. It costs 79 dollars US per month. Shaw is upgrading satellite receivers and new ones can cost up to 350 US.

Re: Shaw tv
Shaw has only one price....that is the one it charges. Beware of scammers that make up a group and charge their own fee while they get a free ride. Any group over three could be in trouble with Shaw. Shaw is not happy about others riding free on others subscriptions. Buyer beware

Re: Shaw tv
Don't all the local "providers" jack up the base cost in order to make a profit?

Re: Shaw tv
No When I had to renew my credit card number I talked directly with Shaw. It is a Canadian company and straight by the arrow
Say I bought a 90 dollar subscription. Then I have 2 people join me but I charge them 45 dollars each. My subscription is paid for and the other 2 pay the bill.
Form your own group, agree on a package and have a reputable company such as the one I mentioned above set it up on a credit card.
I am sure there are other reputable companies. I have always used Sat Systems Ajijic for 21 years.
Beware of individuals selling ride on subscriptions and you pay more than your fair share.
Feel free to ask if ore questions,
.

Re: Shaw tv
You misunderstand me. Francine, Ajijic Satelite, CP Electronics, etc, etc jack up the cost of the subscription to make a profit. They dont sell it at cost. A full Shaw subscription is about $145 CAD per month. They put 5 people on each account and charge about $50 US per person so in fact make about $100 per month, per account. It is still a good deal for the consumer and they make a nice profit for putting it all together and managing it.

Re: Shaw tv
The price I paid was what Shaw quoted me. It did not get jacked up. They will tolerate up to 3 receivers on an account. If you go over that proceed at your own peril as we say in the Navy. They know you are in Mexico but pretend you have a Canadian address.
A group of 5 just got busted and the only way they will get back on Shaw is to get a new receiver number.
The name and credit card holder is on account with Shaw. The riders are listed by receiver number only no name.
Shaw told me they will begin shrinking down the footprint of its signal for older receivers. Almost all will be forced to upgrade receivers.
There are money schemes everywhere......this is just one of them.
If you don't believe this, call Shaw yourself and ask the questions....y will get a straight answer. That is what I did.

Re: Shaw tv
I may have paid Sat Systems Ajiic an initial set up fee but not a dime since. That was 21 years ago so I do not remember how much.
I pay directly to Shaw with my credit card. My 2 riders pay a fair and equal share. I know what the price of the package I have is because my payment goes to Shaw and not to some private individual or company here. I have the bill to prove it. I have a popular price package...not all the goodies. Cost is 79 dollars US per month. We each pay one third of that amount......a fair share.
I have a problem with those creeps that are out to cheat their fellow ex-pats for their own profit and they need to be called out
I hope all these bogus groups of 5 or so get canceled.
I am no saint but these are my thoughts.

Re: Shaw tv
Shaw Direct, then Star Choice First activated a satellite that was receivable in Mexico on Feb 21, 2001. That Satellite was called Anik F-1, it was later replaced by Anik F-1r. I already had an account with Star Choice for the cottage on Vancouver Island, so I brought a receiver down with me early and then hooked it up to a overly large 2.4m (8 foot) dish, because no one knew any better.
So for 17 years I have my home town stations be I down here or up there. I love my Shaw Direct, and sadly don't get to share with anyone because I already have a total of three receivers.

Bob, I have service with Satellite Systems/Ajijic Electronics but the payment to Shaw is an automatic bank withdrawal monthly from a Canadian bank directly to Shaw. They make their money on the dish installation, equipment, wiring installation, etc., not on the subscription nor do they collect for it. Also dish alignment, as you can't call Shaw for service (without peril)
I make automatic monthly direct payments from CIBC to Shaw and receive a record of same in the monthly bank statement and it has nothing to do with Ajijic/Satellite Systems.
Not sure about other "subscription providers" or private individuals, as they could charge as little or much as the traffic would bear.

Re: Shaw tv
So whose name and address is your "subscription" in?
You can have up to 6 receivers on your Shaw account according to their terms of service agreement.

Re: Shaw tv
Mine with a Vancouver address. Shouldn't be difficult for you if I can do it.
We have 3 receivers on, but I wouldn't want to gamble on 6 down here......maybe up in Canada.
