Traffic - so much better now!

Anyone else notice how much lighter traffic is on the carretera this week?

Snowbirds: gone.
Semana Pasqua: over.
School kids: back where they belong.
Ajijic "bike path" / "Big Dig": finally finished!

I live in Ajijic and arrived at a standing weekly appointment in Riberas 15 minutes early this week. So much better (for now).

Snowbirds, not quite, but by the end of April, all the snowbirds will be gone. Then.........
We can say......Mission Depopulation Accomplished

No kidding! So much better. We have our villages back.

Yesterday I drove from Chapala to West Ajijic to Jocotepec and back again. No fuss, no stress, just a pleasant drive both ways. Aaaaaaah.

This is typical of what happens when one chooses to live in a tourist town, and we're THERE.

Yep and without the winter "bump" most restaurants and some of the small businesses would close.

Yup. And it is still lovely when the insane traffic is gone — even if only for a while.

I thought about posting something like this on the infamous "TOB" but chose not to since it would only take six posts before it devolved into a 4-5 page thread bitching about trash, noise, baches/potholes, The Corrupt Local Government In Power In Chapala, etc., etc., etc.



I'm just happy that the traffic is lighter, finally, for the time being. I'm enjoying it!

Geez. Can’t we just be happy to have less traffic for awhile? We know where we live and what the conditions are and how a lot of businesses depend on high season to stay afloat. That has NOTHING to do with enjoying the decrease in traffic when high season finally ends.

And it's gonna get better! More will leave. It is so enjoyable, I can even go into Ajijic again! 

And . . . .  wait for it . . . . . . THE RAINY SEASON IS COMING!!!

Okay, okay.........mea culpa and all that. I'm enjoying it, too. I've spent most of my life living in tourist towns and yes, they support the restaurants. Most of those towns were year round weekend tourist towns with no relief at any season. You do get used to it, though.

And you're absolutely wise not to post it on TOB, where it would evolve into a "butter" or "noise" thread in no time.

They certainly have the propensity to make a debate last forever, including such hi tech topics, as motor oil.

Why anyone would ask for advice on IMSS or SP on the boards when every office and people working in said offices can't seem to agree.  Go there and do what they tell you do, as an individual.

I am frequently astonished at the complex legal questions people ask on web boards, not to mention the medical insurance questions. Let's hope they take the free advice for what it's worth!

This should take care of some of that traffic. I'm looking forward to the diminished crowds at COSTCO.

Too many Mexicans shopping at Costco in GDL to even notice the sprinkling of foreigners.  Probably less traffic for the Chapala shopping services as Mexicans would have very little use for it.
