hi, There's a museum in Britain that wants to do an interview with me. For that, they need someone they described as follows.

"We’re essentially looking for an audio professional who can record a ‘tape sync’ which essentially means they have a decent handheld recorder and a microphone, can record in .WAV format and are prepared to sit and record your voice – close up, in high quality - whilst we talk over the phone!"

If anyone is or knows such a person, kindly PM me.

Cheers,

Michael

I have an excellent digital recorder (Zoom H2) and some experience with this type of work but what I don't have is an isolated space (such as a studio) in order to minimize any ambient sounds. Where were you planning on doing this?

EDIT - Around here, birds are the big problem. Often you don't even notice them while recording but you sure do on playback. I have taken to recording vocal tracks in the middle of the night as a work-around but it is less than ideal.

I was thinking of my office at my place. If the windows are closed it's not bad. Sometimes. Have you done things like this before?

I think we cross posted.

Birds are the big problem. Often you don't even notice them while recording but you sure do on playback. I have taken to recording vocal tracks in the middle of the night as a work-around but it is less than ideal.

My experience is mainly recording vocals for my songs for which most of the backing tracks are generated digitally.

I suggest you go and listen to the space you plan to use at the time of day it will occur, If you can hear birds, they will show up on the recording.

Maybe a hotel room in GDL? Also with the time difference, you might be recording in the middle of the night!

I am able to do this. Or can show you how. It is easy and can be done cheaply (just as good of quality(.WAV)), or you can use expensive equipment (I have some). The choice of microphone is the main factor and the room. I have done voice overs for my videos.

Feel free to email me and I can send you a test .wav file done the cheap way. You can send it to your people and ask them what they think.

Chapala Drone is correct, I have a good quality noise canceling mic that I use for voice recognition and it cancels out most sounds more than a couple of feet from the mic. I never have any problem with outside noises using this mic in a closed room.

Thanks all, for this very useful advice. The producer has someone who is coming to Ajijic for another reason and will likely take care of this business. If that collapses, I'll be back.

FOLLOW UP
First, again, thanks to all you volunteers. The British producer's journalist came to my house last Friday. She had a high end recorder that had a fuzzy wig-like thingy on the end of it. We sat in my upstairs sala with all the doors and windows closed. It all went very well except for a dog barking - on the British end.
Cheers,

Michael
