Mail Service
Can anybody recommend a US mail service/forwarder they use and are happy with? Not a PO Box address. I need a new US address.
TIA

Re: Mail Service
What do you mean by not a PO Box address? I have a box with Sol y Luna that I can add as an apartment address if I want: i.e. 1234 Laredo Ave, Apt 78-945 Laredo TX
THey are VERY slow but reliable and mail and packages get here eventually. They are especially good for packages shipped direct from Amazon. I am not always home to receive the package but they are.

Handy Mail
We have been happy with Handy Mail and their service... The only down is that they only have one send out day weekly...

Re: Mail Service
Oh, I didn't think about the local companies!
Flamingo, I need an address that looks like a house, not POB, for the bank and credit card renewals.
Thanks, Flamingo and rvanparys, I will go talk to both.

I've used both sol y Luna and Handy Mail over the years. Both use street addresses in Laredo and I just list my address as Apartment #XXXXX
I've never had any problem with either.
I use paperless for everything except credit cards and they have never noticed

Re: Mail Service
Thanks, JRM, exactly the answer I was looking for.
Anyone know the prices for this service from either/both of these local businesses.

Re: Mail Service
Sol y Luna is much cheaper than IShop. Try to find someone who is willing to share a box.

Re: Mail Service
Sol y Luna doesn't allow shared boxes any more. I just paid, and can't remember how much, but I think I figured out it came to about $6 USD a month. I like the package option which is the only reason I don't use HandyMail

Re: Mail Service
Ishop isn't even on my radar, too expensive.
Handy Mail doesn't handle packages??? They would be my first choice.
I have used SyL as a nonmember for years now I will probably go with them then. Price is reasonable. My needs are minimal.
I'll check with both. Thanks!

Re: Mail Service
Thanks Pete! That's 192 US. My needs are small, are the services ala carte or must one take the total package?
Is that what you pay Flamingo?

Re: Mail Service
Sorry, I do not have an answer to your question, I am going to them a try, Starting the first of Nov. I am told but do not know that Sol y Luna is two or so days slower at getting mail than the competition. I have used handy mail for years and love them. But I live in Ajijic and have breakfast most days at Salvador's which is in the same block as Sol y Luna.
Oh, I did ask, what happens if I get something before Nov. 1 and they said they would simply charge me for that delivery. So maybe they do let one pay for one letter. But I am not sure what you would do for an address unless you did have an account there. You might want to check them out

Re: Mail Service
Handy Mail accepts packages. There is no additional charge. The yearly charge is around $250 as I recall... To mail a letter is 20 pesos... They charge extra if you are sending a large check (Over $1000 USD>)

Re: Mail Service
The difference between Handy Mail and Sol y Luna is almost 1300 pesos a year. The services and extra costs are about the same.
I will go with S y L as I already know them and have used them occasionally for years. And, 1272 pesos is a pretty big difference.
Thanks everyone, for your input.

https://handymailtomx.com/ They will rec'v packages at their San Antonio address for no charge. They do not transport packages from the USA or Canada.

Re: Mail Service
FYI I renewed recently with IShop'n'Mail. There are 4 us sharing a box--$99 USD total per year for each of us. They have no problem with people sharing boxes.

I know some boxes (Ishop) have 6 or more names but just one address. They don't care unless the volume/weight becomes excessive and then they might charge extra. For the casual users, a much better deal to combine.
