PIZZED ? It's about PIZZA, now I'm confused.
Well, I didn't want the thread to disappear into the Octagon.......had a PIZZED PIZZA lately?
Even the cable news networks can get away with saying "pissed off" these days, so I don't think Bob will send you to the dungeon.
As far as pizzas go around here, they all leave me pizzed off and even worse, pissed off, but it's getting better. The first, and only pizza place for a long time in this area was Howard Fryer's restaurant at La Quinta in Jocotepec thirty five years ago. Over the years, they have proliferated but only gradually gotten better.

David wrote:Refusing to shop at Costalegre over a signage mistake is your loss. They're the best place around and the only place you can get fresh salmon. The farm-raised stuff from Chile is awful and cheap. Real salmon isn't cheap.
About a year back, more or less,Costalegre Fish Market got a new owner. During the transition, the former discount for LCS members was stopped. Even before that, the sign that said LCS members got a 10% discount was removed and you only got it if yuo asked.
IMO, this wasn't a mistake or language issue, it was/is a business "strategy" to make more money, believing that most people either won't notice or don't want to make an issue.
When I went there last time, the price had jumped 20% in one week.
There is a fish store in Ajijic Imountain side) that as of a couple of months ago, had salmon for a very good price per kilo. But you should look and choose what yu want or you will get very thin steaks.

Cluoeless. It's not about 'having' salmon. It's about having WILD-CAUGHT salmon. Do they have wild salmon? If so, where does it come from? What is the price?
Far as I know, the pescaderia in question here is the only one bringing in wild salmon. If you don't know the difference, google farm raised salmon.
OP, in your discussion over price, was the difference between the price of wild vs farm ever discussed? Was that the source of price difference and confusion? I know they usually only post the price of the farm stuff because it's frozen and they have it everyday and when they do have the wild I have to ask the price. And, of course, it's about double the price of the farm.
Had a good conversation with David (Tabarka) the other day, he said not only does he not serve salmon in the restaurant, he doesn't eat it anymore. He won't serve Basa or any other farm-raised fish either. He has a better selection of fresh fish than us here though, he goes to the fish market in the early morning. He said it's getting harder and harder to find good fresh fish that is not wormy, didn't come from Fukushima radiated water, and has not been raised is some filthy breeding pen in the Mekong Delta and fed pig poop.
The future for fish eaters is grim.

A little off topic, but most of us are old enough to remember how people believed that "the oceans would feed the world". Sadly, we now know better. Some of our favorite sea creatures are no more, or close to it.
Remember abalone? Remember when "snapper" was red?

We could stop feeding the oceans plastic for starters.
And greed certainly comes into it. The east coast of Canada has fishing trawlers from PORTUGAL, SPAIN and other far away nations who have overfished their own waters. Enough is enough... or there won't be enough for anyone.

"Colorful Tom" was the attraction, his pizza, not so much. Wife and kids did all the work.
Howard probably had a little better pizza but only served it up on Fridays. Wonderful spot for pizza fiends and drug addicts.
Neither one had any competition in the lake area until Valenciana opened their first shop. Pizza Hut was a fairy early arriver in GDL. Now there, they have Dominos (SAT also), Little Caesar's, Chucky Cheese, and a host of other local pizzeria's.
