Wed market vs Friday market

I will be arriving in Ajijic for the first time on Saturday and already have a conflict of interest.
I have always wanted to visit the Wednesday Tianguis, but there is also a tour I would like to take on Wednesday. I understand that there is another market in another part of town on Friday. How do you compare the two? Very similar of completely different?

Go to the tianguis in Chapala on Mondays if you want to see a traditional tianguis. Wednesday in Ajijic is way smaller with some artisania, it is pleasant one.
Cannot tell you about the Friday market, went there once and di not go back so it maybe differnt. They had more artisania, artists and prepared food on Friday but this was a while back so it may be different now.

Agree on going to the Monday market in Chapala... much larger, and fewer booths targeting gringos with tourist stuff. There's also a market in Jocotepec. Not sure of the day, but think it's Thursdays (somebody else can confirm).

Yes it is on Thursday but Chapala is still better

chapala is about 4 times bigger than ajijic.

Ajijic market is more expensive too

Ajijic market also have items the Chapala market has not according to the fishmonger and other merchants, the demand is different and people will pay for certain items they want when they will not in Chapala.
Not my words but those of merchants who sell at both market.

Thanks everyone. I won't have a car so will have to take the bus to Chapala. Is the market close to the bus stop?

You can take the bus on the main highway to Chapala. I get off at the bus station and walk. Not sure if you can go further or have to change bus to get dropped closer but if you can walk it should not be a problem

Take the bus to Soriana. (Right side of Hwy) Walk back across the Caraterra at the crosswalk and then down the street next to the cows. (best description I can give and easy to spot) You will end up at the lower end of the market with most of the produce stalls. Turn left to go back into the large "stuff" area. Right to go to mostly produce and food stalls.
