Re: Rental of Home for Sale Wanted
Pardon my opinion here, but I think most every house in Mexico should be less than $200,00., but by putting that price out there, it seems you may be asking to be price gouged. You may do better by using general terms about price and letting sellers give you a price, so you can then negotiate it down. When we throw out big prices to people, we are increasing the market price of everything and making it equivalent to U.S. prices/ raising the cost of living there making it no longer beneficial to live down here.

It's all about perspective. I consider $200K to be a bargain for a nice house in a good location. You won't be finding much in Ajijic for under 200K now a days.......

We don't want to be in Ajijic due to noise and cost. We don't consider $200,000 a bargain generally speaking. I think people compare that price to from where they came, and so if may seem inexpensive by comparison.
For us, that is more than we would pay in Texas for a house the size we need.
Nnyllaes. I believe your thinking is correct.

Like I said...... it's all about perspective. I hail from a place where 200k wouldn't even buy you the garage.

...or try anywhere in coastal California.
I'm getting the impression that some folks aren't thinking of moving to Mexico because they want to live in Mexico, but purely looking for a lower cost of living. Those folks usually don't last here long. Culture shock, and deprivation of the things they're used to in the States.

Lower cost of living is definitely on my list too but I do realize that it is getting more expensive here and not just the RE. I think many things have risen 10% to 20% in the six years we have been living here and I expect it will keep rising. The only consolation is both the USD and CDN have been trading higher. Let's hope they don't go back down to 11 - 1 anytime soon. I imagine some prospective expats are already looking for less expensive places. On the other hand I almost crap my pants when I go back to Vancouver and see what things cost there now.

Whoa....
I can't imagine the culture shock and deprivation of having to live in Texas after living in Mexico. I don't envy my brethren who go there for work.
