Delicias....Chapala
Delicias..... .....4 thumbs down.
Hoy, 1 de mayo, arrived at the restaurant at 10:20AM, 2 parties ahead in line, waited 10 to 15 min. for table.....OK
We were a party of 8, 4 adults and 4 children, and after seating, less than 10 minutes orders were taken.....OK
12:00 noon....nothing has happened not even drinks (coffee or juices), everyone is restless, kids are starving hungry.
Complained to the owner, "that you have to understand we have kids that are hungry (as well as adults). Why so long? Why no explanation?"
La duena dijo...."tiene que entendernos, nonchalantly, that we have a big group in the patio"
Other tables would break out into applause when anything was brought to their tables.
Waited another 10 to 15 min........!NADA!.....not even a placating excuse during this whole ordeal.
So we all left (probably 1500 pesos of business)......!NUNCA A REGRESAR!

I too was disappointed last time I went there. It was not as bad as your experience, but not satisfying either. It was not busy at all, but the service was bad. For the first time since I have been going there (and I first went there about a month after they opened), I did not thoroughly enjoy the experience. I now go to Palapa de Don Juan in Chapala. Pretty much the same menu as Delicias and a beautiful view with breeze off the lake. For those that don't know, Palapa de Don Juan is located east of the Chapala malecon, across the street and a bit east from Alecia's clothing.

We had a similar experience on a Sunday about a month ago.

My wife and I along with another couple went to Palapa Don Juan about a month ago. It was on a Sunday, they were busy but we were seated right away.
Well the service people were overwhelmed by the amount of people. It took us over 1 hour for our order to get to us. By this time we were ready to go somewhere else.
So it happens all over. Instead of telling the customer that the kitchen is backed up they seat you not wanting to loose the business.
Not good. Better to be informed and make your own decision to stay or go somewhere else. You would be back again in the future.

Sunday is the worst day of the week to go out for breakfast. I avoid it at all costs.

Seems that many tapatio families who are here on the weekend like to go out for Sunday breakfast. In my neighborhood of west Ajijic, the Pancake House packs them in.
