Elba Tamales - warning

Hi,
I've been to Elba Tamales, on the carretara, on the corner by Galeana several times. Since they have great tamales, I am sorry to say I won't be back. Twice I've seen the woman who works there handle both food and money. The first time I mentioned it to the fellow who owns or manages it, and he said he'd make sure it stopped. Couple days ago I had a yen for a tamale and stopped by. First she scooped up vegetables with her bare hand, and then took money in payment. When she went to the next customer she did not wash. This is a very sure way too get sick. I will avoid it from now on.

Was there the other day...watched closely. The young lady covered her hand to transfer the tamales into the bag with the tongs, removed the bag when she got my change.

I wonder why there is no health department to inspect food business. I see violations daily at most restaurants in Ajijic, and that's even looking in the kitchen.

In the USA, the effectiveness of health department inspections and enforcement is a huge myth. Think, “body count“.
