Traffic Infractions
I do not know if this is normal or not, but while at a friend's house today - who has a big piece of property and house - a well-dressed dude showed up with a shirt bearing the logo of the Ayuntamiento and a clip board with a print out of a ticket that he claims was for my friend and taken by the photo camera up on the Librameinto. The information was correct, the license, name, etc. He was trying to collect the multa of $1242 pesos for an infraction that was 10 mos old. He was sent packing without pay and advised the matter would be taken care of at the Ayuntamiento.
Anyone ever had someone come to your house to collect a traffic fine?

Re: Traffic Infractions
Nope, I either get those tickets in the mail or pay them when I register my vehicle.
Also, there is no photo radar on the Librameinto unless that is also what they call the stretch of highway around Ixthulacan.

On that note......my accountant forgot to pay my state taxes for Nov/Dec and come Feb. 3 there was a guy ringing my doorbell and giving me a fine and telling me I better get to the office in Chapala to pay ASAP. Needless to say I was pissed off so my accountant went there, paid my taxes and the fine the next day.

I hope you made your accountant pay the fine, since it was his mistake!

Yes, that's the place, but I should've asked an open-ended question instead of asking if it was that camera so of course he just said yes.
Thanks for the input.

Re: Traffic Infractions
You need to pay at tax office and they can make you pay fines and penalties and lien property pay at the Recaudadora or State Finance Office immediately.

So, Spencer? This guy was a scammer or this is legal and routine for people to come to the house to collect for a traffic ticket???

Re: Traffic Infractions
This is legal and they get paid commissions so you need to pay, be in line to pay tomorrow 8.30 am and maybe avoid fines.

Re: Traffic Infractions
The ticket was for my friend and they will pay at the office. It's almost a year old so probably no discounts.
Thanks for the confirmation.

Re: Traffic Infractions
We got a ticket on the periferico and 11 months later when we went to get our tag renewal, the infraction was on the record, so we paid it then, along with a late penalty. We never got a notice in the mail so we didn't know we got a ticket, but when we got home and looked at the date of the infraction, we had been on the periferico that day so it was real.

Wow, 11 months later you can remember being on the Periferico date-certain! You will definitely have no dementia problems going forward.

Re: Traffic Infractions
They have the picture of your vehicle with the license plate enlarged so you don't have to remember anything.....jaja.

Re: Traffic Infractions
Actually I had a medical appointment on the calendar in Guadalajara in Feb. 2015, and had already renewed my tag in Jan. 2015. When we renewed the tag Jan. 2016, there the infraction was, 11 months old. It was for speeding over 60 km. I think the ticket was for 500 pesos since we didn't pay it "timely" so there was also a late penalty included , but we had no clue we had a ticket as they didn't mail us anything, and when we told them, they said the ticket is 500 pesos, pay up !.

Re: Traffic Infractions
Do foreign plates, e.g., Ontario, get caught by the cameras? I went o CBob's site [Thx!] but my plate wasn't listed and I didn't understand what the box beneath the plate number box was for.
Cheers,
Michael

Re: Traffic Infractions
No, it is only for Jalisco plated vehicles. The box beneath is where you put the last 6 digits of your VIN.
