If an Expat had a Mexican live in caregiver move in and care for them, say for 2- 5 years or until death.

Could the Mexican caregiver then claim the house and property similar to squatters rights.

Obviously the elder woman was wrong for not paying this woman. On a side note Cheryl Sherrill was on an episode on Hoarders.

You would think DHS Human trafficking laws would prevent this. I assume since she's an American it didn't apply.

It's very common in the US to see ads to care for elderly for room and board no pay.
What a mess, pun intended.

Has this ever happened here? What is the law here to protect Expats from this occurring if there is no family or they're private and it appears on the up and up?

Anyone know?
