Sausage supplier
Can anyone recommend somewhere that sells good sausage? (not chorizo)
We had been buying Johnsonville Italian sausage at Walmart and they have stopped stocking them.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Sausage supplier
Tony's Meat market next to Superlake sells their own home made Italian sausage - I think they sell hot or mild.

If you men Big Daddy's head on a platter, probably the answer is yes.

Tuesday market: turn right from entry and look in the first row. The seller has a good variety of home made sausages and samples to taste.

I like the chorizo made by Corona brand. You can' get it everywhere but I get mine at Walmart. They buy it in a huge package and repackage it so it's at the end of case close to the hot dogs. It's pretty good, not too hot but tasty, especially BBQ'd

A light nitpick: The O/P specified: "not chorizo".

Re: Sausage supplier
I know he said no chorizo but surprisingly, the Corona brand doesn't taste like traditional Mexican chorizo. But rather like a Polish dog or beer sausage. Hopefully, he won't be put off by the chorizo name.

Re: Sausage supplier
The best Chorizo we have found locally after 25+ years is from the truck that comes thru on Thursdays from Mazamitla..Passes and stops at various places in Ajijic, S.A.,Riberas, Chapala..You can also purchase it from a few tiendas' as well as the "green grocer" (stall) in the NW corner inside the Chapala Mercado..It is the best...

Re: Sausage supplier
That would be the yellow cheese truck that comes from San Jose de Gracia.
When Big Daddy was run out of town, he left behind a sausage void. There is a market here for good homemade sausage in different flavors. For awhile there was sausage from SMA at SL, but even that disappeared. BD sold a lot of sausage. If you, or you know someone, who likes to make sausage they could probably have a pretty good business here.
The only sausage I eat is Sabori soy chorizo, and it is really good.

Re: Sausage supplier
I second the Tuesday market guys. They make an Italian sausage that is out of this world, and several very good and unusual German sausages as well.
IMHO the best chorizo - for others reading this post - is also at the Tuesday Market and made by Maria Elaina who also sells organic meats. Her booth is in the left hand corner as you come through the front door.
