AND, I just remembered, the above fine financial institution is one and the same where another Canadian couple friends of mine lost their whole 30,000 dollar account. Poof. Flat out disappeared! Too bad, so sad.

No, they never got a peso.

There's a difference between a bank stealing your money "openly" which I think is rare and "making you lose it" with bad investments.

I also had a bad experience with Actinver because I was led to invest into a portfolio that was not for me -- too much speculation based on the Stock Market. I lost just like I did in my own country years before -- trusting my agent.

Just stay away from risky investments. Of course, they will try to suck you in because they buy and sell -- that's where they make their commission while you are losing and paying the taxes on what they are supposed to have gained for you (only on paper--long story).

The banks are ALL the same ALL over the world. Believe me, I've been there and it took me that long to learn how to stay away from risky investments. If you just keep your money in at a-no-risk investment, we are okay. Lowest interest but no risk of losing your capital.

Yes, good advice.

My friends who lost the thirty thousand, had it stolen by a bad employee. In the course of the investigation the lawyers discovered 2 other accounts that this man had stolen. Actinver said how sorry they were, the employee was no longer working for them, but . . . oh well.

Your point is well-taken, but bad investments were not the case with the people I know. They were outright robbed by an Actinver employee who got away with it and may be working at your bank now.

That's another thing about Mexican banks, they have total impunity.

Amen, brother.

We opened the Actinver account, strictly as a receptacle for SS checks when Banamex USA threw us under the bus, and they immediatey tried to persuade us to invest in their various instruments. No way. We never leave more in the account than we can afford to lose and would NEVER get into the investments they recommend. Fingers crossed; so far they haven't stolen our money.
