No more LCS discount here.

For a long time, one of the benefits of LCS membership was that some merchants would give a discount if you showed your card.

For a long time, the fish store just West of Superlake had a sign up: "Discount to LCS members."

So of course, we took advantage of that; it was 10% and that is high for Mexico.

About six months ago, the sign disappeared, but they still gave the 10% discount if asked and card shown.

A few days ago we went there, bought a considerable amount of salmon steaks and noted the price hag gone up by several percent.

The young lady at the register told us that the store had a new owner, gave us his card, and that he had raised many prices and eliminated all discounts.

That was a moment to make a statement. Leave the salmon on the counter andwalk away.
There is quite a lot of this at the moment and that statement has to be made. There are other fish vendors

I'm not going to make a statement (or scene) to some 19 year old girl who is just doing her job. I'll just shop around.

Sometimes just stopping buying at a place is making a statement.

In the past year Salmon has gone up $85 to $95 Pesos per kilo most places.

We must be talking something different here, or do you mean over the price it was a year ago?

Right now, it's slightly over $200 per kilo, and that includes Soriana and Walmart.
