Saw you got pulled over today by the gas station on your quad, wondering when you would post. I havent updated my guide and am thinking of doing a 2017 update.

What was the outcome of you being pulled over?

He got the attention he so craves?

Anybody remember what answers he got the previous three or four times he asked this same question? I'd ask him but, clearly, he does not even recall asking the question much less the answer.

Lady O. you're right. I do have a serious memory problem. Sometimes it's a good thing, easier to let things pass when they are not remembered. Sometimes it's not a good thing when I forget to pay a bill.

Just one of the deficits of growing old., but probably beats the alternative.

I still want to know why your wife was not wearing a helmet but you were.

I plan on buying a Golf Cart when i move down there in 3 months for my everyday transportation. Should I be worried about being pulled over on a consistent basis?

If you buy a golf cart, make sure that you get a factura (original invoice). Without a factura you cannot get license plates (motorcycle plates). Without license plates you may get pulled over, especially just before Christmas (ask me how I know). Without plates you cannot get insurance.

Be meticulous about obeying traffic laws, including going the right way on one-way streets or parking lots.

I have been stopped twice in a year, once because it was my fault.

Everyday transportation? Really? You can drive golf carts on the carretera?

Personally, I'd be more worried about runaway pipa trucks or being hit by virtually anything over the size of a German Shepard than the transitos.

Thanks ldrews. I appreciate the info . I think i would be more worried about eating tainted food that the Health Dept. missed during their weekly inspections than being hit by a truck.

As far as I know you cannot drive a golf cart on the carretera, except to cross it.  Golf carts are allowed only on the local streets.  But you can travel from Riberas to western Ajijic on local streets on the lake side of the carretera. We combine that with the local buses and get around quite well.

That's what I thought too and I totally agree with you, that's how I got around for over a year when my car was illegal. However. . .it got real old and very limiting so I bought a new car.

You are correct that you can't drive on it but you can cross it. I guess i will have to do a little maneuvering to get where i need to go. Maybe i will learn a few short cuts.

You have been able to get liability insurance on your golf cart? IE If you run over a little kid or cause damage to someone's property you have a policy that will cover this?
